Isn't Clara supposed to be leaving at the end of this series?

Please!
Can't it be Christmas? Get the soldier girl from the last episode back as companion.
She would be a good foil to the Dr, rspecially as she is,what he dislikes - a soldier.

She skips about like a seven year old on Christmas Day with a new frock on, despite the huge seriousness of some of the plot situations, has the diction of a cow chewing cud spiked with Acid and the most appallingly wooden acting.

She has a range of precisely TWO facial expressions -
1) ventriloquist-dummy grin or
2) pull-my-eyebrows-down-to-my-cheekbones-and-scowl-like-someone-stole-my-trike. confused/annoyed/insulted (multifunction expression, this one.)

What ought I to like about that?

That was in my Dr Who 'dark period'. I did not watch it between deciding Peter Davidson was pants and when Christopher Eccleston took over.

Yep, same here. Loved Christopher Eccleston, shame he only did the one series. In my view he brought DrWho back out of the doldrums.

Zawe Ashton ( Journey Blue Soldier) is a great actress , both son and I commented that she'd be a great companion.

Her character Vod, in "Fresh Meat" was excellent .

Brilliant.

Watching it tonight! I think Capaldi has a touch of the Tom Baker about him - silly, sarcastic, at times scatty and forgetful, but capable of scary anger.
I like him!

Infinitely better than the Robin Hood crap last week. You can certainly tell that "Listen" was a Moffat episode. Quality writing.
