MP3 Player Recommendations

Right, my current mp3 player is nearly 10 years old (a 2GB iriver thingy) and the controls are getting a bit sticky. It still works and is ok for to use when going for a run, but now I want something that would be easy to use in the car.

Any recommendations for a new one? One that I can copy mp3's or wma's onto directly using, say, windows explorer without going through something like itunes. I *think* this rules out ipods as I've heard that itunes is the only way of using them. I'd consider one if it didn't though.

Alan, get yourself a Rio Carbon. I had one before I went Apple mad, but if I was in the the market for a new mp3 I'd get another one of these. People say they're vastly better than the iPod and more flexible too: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/rio...ult.asp?cat=35

Does it start up where you stoped in a long podcast if you have to stop in the middle and it turns off?

The only thing I dont like about my cheapo player is that if you pause and it turns off, it takes forever to fastforward 20 mins or whatever to where you were.

My old Ipod was better for that, and the interface was great, but it doesnt connect worth a damn to my new notebook due to the firewire thing.

Sansa Fuze does the job for me.

I have a SanDisk 4 gig with an additional mini 4 gig chip. I've had it for a couple of years now. It works well, it's easy to program with drag and drop and it was about 1/3 the price of an iPod.

But can you play Angry Birds on it?

You are damn right about that  That is what I have, and it's been many places with me. You pause it, turn it off, and next time it's on, it continues from where you left off.

The FM radio on isn't too shabby either, it's also good for audio books, videos et al. For the price during a sale, you can't go wrong.

drag and drop option is so simple, even a brainwashed apple products loving fan can do it

I did consider this, but it's just not up to the job. It's a 4 year old blackberry curve and I lost the thing holding track wheel in so it falls out all the time and the memory card slot doesn't work properly.

And I shall take a look at the suggested players in this thread. Thanks.

I have a Curtis mp3 player for working out and going fishing. It was very cheap and works okay.

Did anyone see the Daily Mash article on passive aggressive birds yesterday? Very funny: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/a...-201110074396/
