Re: Movie music
I may be the only person who associates this piece with the movie I've Heard The Mermaids Singing and I may be the only person who knows the movie. But I can't find both together on youtube

Re: Movie music
I love film score music.....it quite simply makes or breaks a film! it tells the story without you realising it.....
I think my favourite composer has to be John Barry, sadly no longer with us....he has wrote some stunning pieces of music, I love all his James Bond work infact I don't think he ever wrote anything bad or even mediocre, a truly great composer. He is very closely followed by John Williams of course.....an amazing composer, of which we all know most of his work, even going back as far as the original Poseidon adventure film score which I think was one of his first.
I also think Gerry Goldsmith wrote some good stuff too, who can ever forget the masterpiece he wrote to the Omen! wow!
As for the younger composers, I like Hans Zimmer his score to the man of steel was a great new modern take on "Superman" I mean how do you top the original Superman theme by John Willllams? but I think he came up with something really impressive in my opinion, pity the movie itself was a huge disapointment.
I also like some of Danny Elfman's stuff too....
Oh by the way, hi everyone! my life has been so stupidly busy for the last year or so.....haven't had time to breathe! I think things are finally starting to settle down a bit more, so I am hoping to be back on here a bit more often.

Re: Movie music
Indeed.
I have the full Superman movie score on CD and it is nothing short of a masterpiece. one of my favourite pieces from it is called "leaving home".... its the scene where Clark leaves his earth mother in Smallville to start a new life in Metropolis, it so packed full of emotion, the music tells the story of the bond between a mother and son and the strong pride she has for her son.... her memories of their relationship to date.....from the baby she gave birth to, to a boy, to an adolescent, to a young man, and now her job is done, and she must let him lead his own life, no words are required the music tells the story, John Williams at his best. Much of the score he wrote for Superman does that. It definitely helped make it such a classic and memorable movie.
Ok thats not the exact sequence of events in the movie.....but you get what I am saying.
