I wish they would give it a rest.

Here here - they seem hell bent on reporting every tiny bit of house prices/economy information as a full blown story practically every day....

Not good for those of use with houses for sale....

I cringe everytime. I think they and the bloody papers are making things even worse. :curse:

On the other side of the coin, I wouldn't dream of moving back to the UK *until* house prices settle down to a more reasonable level. Compared to what you can get in Canada for almost half the price, there's no competition.

I must admit house prices are stupid nowadays. I feel sorry for first time buyers. :(

It's only likely to be a temporary blip, bottom line is, we have 60+ million people crammed into a little island, so there's always going to be a shortage of housing long term.... Doesn't make it any easier for those of us trying to sell right now though....

I feel angry that in my own country I was basically shut out of ever owning a house, and that was presuming I was earning an average wage (far below it, in fact). If I'd stayed in the UK, I would have been shut out of owning a house for a *very* long time.

Off topic: whereabouts in Ribble Valley are you? I was born and bred in Preston …

Likewise for the majority of first time buyers now.... It's now down to parents to stump up a wedge for a deposit....

No news there, that was the case for me in 1981. It was infeasible to buy a house within the bounds of the North Circular so, being faced with the threat of Watford, I thought I might as well move to the colonies.

Slough, Bracknell or Milton Keynes didn't appeal then?

My parents would laugh themselves silly at this idea. They're having trouble enough looking after themselves, never mind their offspring. :D

I was quite London-centric, I really did think that so long as I had to move to some place in the Midlands, such as those mentioned, I may as well be abroad or dead. I chose abroad. I've since worked in Milton Keynes quite often and continue to wonder how people there go on.

But like many countries the baby boomers are dying and the only reason that it's kept going this far is the number of single people buying homes and the buy to let
The credit crunch as scuppered the buy to let market,
