It's good to read something positive in this thread.

How come Canadians labour under the mistaken impression that their beer is superior? Even their microbrewery stuff is crap.

...This is exactly what I hoped wouldn't happen to this thread. It's just turned in to another chaotic jumble of badly thought out "jokes" and disinformation.

We really had a chance here to do some good and help someone begin to turn their life around, but no - you lot couldn't find it in your hearts to do that.

Well I hope you're all proud of yourselves - but just remember this - tonight as Riccosuabe lays drunk and semi-conscious in some stinking northern back alley, no money left in the pockets of his urine soaked trousers and his dreams of a new life in Canada in tatters - we could have stopped this from happening - if only we'd all stuck together and given him the support he so desperately needed.

Shame on us all!

Woah, hang on a minute, bsmith... he was, after all, enquiring as to the availability of - as Alan so succinctly put it - Canadian pisswater. Surely a truly committed trouser-urinator would be drinking something a little less like the proverbial canoe-canoodling products of global brewing behemoths. I think you dismiss him too lightly - he's not yet beyond salvation.

I've stayed well clear of this thread because I don't want to derail bsmith's christian attempts to help a Mackem with his difficulties in coping.

Believe me, once you've had the misfortune to be brought up on Vaux Brewery products on Wearside, Canadian swill seems like an exotic elixir of inestimable refinement.

Poor sod.

We may have lost him but its not too late for you. Good luck with your journey.

Help is nigh

...Thank you for acknowledging my efforts - and I'm sure, in his own way, Riccosuabe will be grateful for your concern and kind words.

That leaves open the eternal conundrum of whether Mackems are capable of gratitude, or indeed of rational thought, other than "Where's the next beer?"

I'm sure that, as a Christian, you feel nothing but sympathy for these poor souls.

I don't see an issue in the OPs original question at all. It seems perfectly reasonable to me.

However, this thread does go to show how a badly worded question/comment followed by reactive posts can lead to the humorous wee taking we see today.

It's baffling to me. I wondered if he needed a small quantity for some sort of joke thinking that maybe someone could carry a single bottle. Maybe even just the bottle would do, if the joke just has it standing around then it could be filled with any liquid of approximately the right colour.

The OP kind of got what they deserved. They ask a pretty daft question and then throw a hissy fit when it's not answered to their satisfaction - it's to be expected that the mocking escalated at that point.

The hissy fit certainly deserved a good ribbing and i have to thank some of you for making me giggle like a japanese school girl while reading through the thread

Still think the basis behind the initial question was reasonable. Not dissimilar to the old "Where can i buy british tasting bacon/chocolate/cheese/hookers/vats of marmite, in Canada" questions.
