Re: Metro Vancouver gang killings
It seems that this current gang war is between "younger" gangs, in both age and formation of the gang, hitting at mainly older men in longer established gangs, or at young men associated with an "older" gang, eg that 14 year old killed at the end of December.
Almost as if they are trying to take over, or something.
But they are certainly more heedless about where they do the shooting ....... in broad daylight, with loads of people around, and heedless shooting so that innocent people are in danger.
A bystander was injured in the shooting at YVR by a random bullet, lots of people got video, et etc.

The police losing them when they fled YVR is pretty pathetic I have to say. Like unbelievable they can get away with that, where was the air support to follow them?

Re: Metro Vancouver gang killings
At some point police have to balance public safety with catching them, and at that point with them shooting from a moving vehicle on a crowded street, public safety needs to be priority.

If there was no chopper or fixed-wing plane in the air, it was on the ground. That was an easy one. Any high speed pursuit in a built-up area is a no no; there have been so many innocent motorists and pedestrians killed because of that, the rules were changed to forbid it. If there was no road block or spike belt deployed between the airport and Surrey it's because there were no cops there to make it happen.

How long would it take them to get from the airport into Surrey if they really stepped on it, maybe 12 or 15 minutes? I'm trying to remember how long it took last time I got a ride from Surrey to the airport and iirc it was only about 20 minutes.

Re: Metro Vancouver gang killings
Without traffic its pretty fast drive, at a high rate of speed I imagine it would be pretty quick drive too. Google puts it at 25 minutes right now using normal speeds and current traffic, so I'd think at a high speed 15-20 minutes is doable.
Shooting occurred just about 3pm and the car was found on fire in Surrey at about 3:30p according to media reports.

Confirmed gang shooting last night. Retaliation for the shooting at Vancouver Airport on Sunday.
A short time after the shooting, police in Surrey were called to a vehicle on fire, which follows the usual method, shooting, about 1/2 hour often in Surrey a car is on fire.

I feel sorry for the parents. Immigrants move to Canada in search of a better life for their family and the kids join (or are forced to join) a gang and end up getting shot dead at point blank range. No parent should bury their child.
But on the other hand, if you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Re: Metro Vancouver gang killings
We had alerts, a big area closed off, Covid testing/vax centre closed, 3 or 4 schools on lockdown for "shots fired" at 8.30am yesterday. Requests for no pictures on social media etc - CTV and CBC didn't appear to get that memo.
RCMP eventually cleared area around 6.00pm, haven't found anything or anyone. Apparently a truck was shot at, a couple of bullet holes and broken window, nobody hurt.

Hi
Well it seems they aren"t following trudeau's new gun ban rule then
Take away their firearms licences and tell them to lock up their guns
( sarcasm )
Total waste of time and money by the goverment those new laws were then
perhaps money and time would be better spent on border checks etc with the cbsa ?
cheers

The top 6 gangsters Vancouver Police have released photos and names. So far this year there have been 20 gang related murders and another 20 attempted gang related murders.
[They are a] risk to people every time they go to the gym, shopping, the grocery store, a restaurant or bar, when bars are open. These individuals pose a risk to the people around them because it’s highly likely that a rival gangster will try to target them with extreme violence,” he said.
