"melting day"
Congratulations to all those living in Atlantic Canada. I heard today on the weather forecast you have a "melting day" today. We had one of those in SW Ontario a few weeks ago and it has been on the up and up ever since.
May you have many more "melting days" to come.

It has? The City of Toronto has issued a couple of cold weather alerts since we had that brief melting period. Even this week's weather doesn't look great as it is going to be cool, go up to 14 degrees, and then be back down to 0 degrees 48 hours later.

OK, it is not exactly spring-like and we are still getting biting cold days but I am trying to be positive - we are getting some days above freezing and we haven't had more than a couple of inches of snow. I say that is an improvement and it is surely better than the weather in NS, NB and NL.

My daughter was shovelling snow in the Halifax area yesterday
small urban lot, nowhere to put it, so she ended up doing the two step
shovel snow to make a small pile
step on to that pile and heave shovelfuls of snow up onto the high pile

Its melting here in beautiful Rainbow Lake, AB...so its gone from the snowy season to the muddy season.
I think I preferred the snow that was here a few weeks back when I was here

Quite a bit of melting here. The snowbanks in front of our house are down to head height now.

We are having quite dip in that "up and up" trajectory today - 10 cm of snow and still falling.

Re: "melting day"
I really, really want it to melt, if it would do it with hot air and will power my garden would be totally clear
As it is, I have to have the dog tied up as otherwise he'd leg it straight over the back fence. It's horrid, dull and cold.....but!!! it's meant to be plus 12 on Friday, and raining, that should get the stuff a (bit) gone.

But even where it's not an issue there's still often loads of water on sidewalks between snowbanks and at corners.

Did you see the 22 minutes sketch about the "dirty snow piles " festival in Halifax? Made me laugh!
