You're right. Unless somebody hates their family, i just don't understand it either.

My wife's aunt was like that and she's dumbfounded that the owners of the company she was recently made redundant from (after 15yrs) haven't continued a close relationship or been there for her when needed.

The family she often put to one side in favour of the business are.

Such a shame.
