marmite and pickle
Just a quickie,
We have the shippers coming Tuesday and they have said we could take Marmite and Pickle as long as we did not tell them (ie pack it in a box.) This leads me to think maybe we shouldn't be doing it I have had a look at what is prohibited and it does not mention jars, can or tins. Has anybody else done this and has it been a problem? |

I'm a frequent and repeat Marmite smuggler when I travel between UK and Canada. I feel no remorse and have had no problems to date.:D.

I think you will be able to get it. The PEI government website has a section on peanut safety (school lunches). Marmite is suggested as a safe alternative to peanut butter.

Re: marmite and pickle
Usually in the organic or imported food section of a supermarket it's possible to find jam & marmalade that isn't 50% sugar as most North American product is. (Inc. Robinsons Golden Shred US/Canada style.) I buy marmalade with some french name in a tall thin jar. It's very good.
Marmite can also be usually found but in small jars often in the baking section. Very expensive. Bring 500g jars from UK with you. They last forever. |

That's not entirely true. I have yet to find either in my local supermarkets. I don't think marmite is terribly popular in Quebec, which is slightly ironic, given that it's a French word.
