Love him hate him or his airline.

I dont know him personally or have never flown his airline but there is just something about Michael O'Leary that makes you love him or hate him.
For an allegedy shite airline and ego maniac chief it makes you wonder how this airline has survived (Ryanair).
I have to agree with him on this one as it demonstrates the point that a lot of people dont take the time to read stuff or think rules apply to them.

Good for him. She was probably too busy stuffing her neck with pints of lager and pizza to be bothered.

I wonder how many of the 500,000 haters on facebook will still fly with them cos its so cheap :D

Ryanair are fine for euro city breaks that you can take a rucksack. Used them many times without any problems. You know in advance they will charge you extra for anything they can so you just need to pay attention.

(I do think that the fee she was charged is criminal though!!)

That may well be but if 98% already comply and dont pay the fee then they cant be making much money. Im surprised O'Leary hasnt yet introduced a policy of if you show up without your boarding passes printed then you will be denied boarding full stop and no refund. Need to get home then tough pay for another ticket or use another airline.
One or 2 of those incidents hit the press then he achieves 100% compliance.

Criminal is calling a furnace guy about your furnace and being quoted a $75 call out charge plus whatever the hourly rate is:lol:

I'd be happy to pay a lot less to get the same crap service I've come to expect from North American carriers.

The silly woman has no right to complain at all.

So she was staying in rural Spain without internet .............. she must have had internet to print out her out-going boarding passes. She wasn't charged on the way out.

The website gives you the option of printing out your return passes at the same time. If she knew she was going to be in a villa in rural somwehere, then she should have printed out the other boarding passes before she left the UK.

Yes Ryanair is no frills. Their rules and regulations are all over the place.
Play by the rules and you can get a cheap flight. Don't and you will pay all their extras.

My flying rant with any carrier:lol:
If possible print off your boarding passes before you fly.
If no printer then get to the airport a bit earlier not 30 mins before take off and use one of the self serve kiosks to print off boarding passes.
Normally there are airline reps to assist if not knowing how to use one.
If flying Westjet then its a good idea not to be in the Air Canada check in line.
Women it says one piece of hand carry on (purse/handbag exempt) so please only have ONE.
If waiting inline to check in please have your boarding pass and ID ready rather than spending 10 minutes looking for it in the black hole commonly known as your handbag on arrival at the check in desk.
Most airlines have a weight restriction on carry on or checked bags make sure you understand it rather than bitching about the costs for overweight bags.
If it doesnt fit in that metal thing for carry on then chances are its not carry on size.
Make sure you are at the correct departure gate as if destined to Vancouver a departure gate of Halifax wont help.
If boarding by row numbers listen for the announcement and check your boarding pass. If you are in row 20 why are you getting in line when they announce rows 1 to 12.
Everybody will get on board no matter what row you are sat in.
Its the same as everyone will get off when it lands so no need to stand for 10mins till they get the doors open.
I could post more but you get the idea

As I understand it (and I may be wrong), the baggage fees are high to discourage people from taking luggage so the airline can sell the hold space for cargo shipments.

To be fair, Ryanair will only allow you to check in online a maximum of 14 days before you fly - and she flew out 15 days before (so she couldn't check in and print the return portion).

That said, she knew the situation so she should have left the villa early and gone in search of an Internet cafe on the way to the airport.

It does however get my wick when you get charged for non optional extras - you can't fly without a boarding pass or without checking in. Online checkin should be free, and if you print your own boarding passes, you should be able to charge Ryanair €60.00!!

Agree with all of them and just like to add that when the plane starts bumping around and the seat belt sign goes on then thats "not" the time to get up and use the washroom so there's no point in getting pissy with the stewardess that quite rightly tells you to get back to your seat
