Loser Teachers

Nothing that Donald Trump or his family / entourage does surprises me. But this particular comment from Donald Trump Jnr is both hilarious and very sinister at the same time. Care to think of many other countries around the world that are picking on teachers as they are seen as 'anti-government'? Turkey, Philippines, Venezuela etc.?? No, I am not a teacher or even an ex-teacher.

Why Donald Trump Jr.'s ‘loser teachers’ comment was 'a chilling moment’ for educators around the world

Basically, 'loser teachers' spouting socialism and brainwashing good ole 'conservative' children with their pinko / commie view of the world. I am so thankful to NOT be living in the USA right now.

I can't say I am surprised at anything said by any of that family!

But as someone who has been associated with teaching for many years, from school days to being a teacher to married to a university teacher ................. I am horrified at the attacks on teachers and the incitement inherent in his words.

From what I've read about Donald Trump Jr. he is even more of a critter than his father.

but apparently he is very good at 'harvesting animals'..now that is a new one for willfully killing animals for the thrill of it.

Not so much. Look at past threads here. Anything with the josies in it will have reference to "harvesting" in this context.

Good God man! The kids will grow up with the crazy notion that every citizen should have access to basic healthcare and that societies should be measured by how they treat the most needy...... where will it all end..... rampant socialism that's where......

Teachers are a bit sh** though. Always moaning about paperwork/accountability and then there is the naffing unions. Our children deserve better.

I can never tell if you're serious or not on this forum but teachers unions at least here in Ontario are not my favourites. My wife works in a non-teaching role with a school board and if she could be out of the union she would't hesitate.

Re: Loser Teachers

I have a great deal of sympathy for teachers ............. I taught for 2½ years in the UK and know for myself how hard it is, mentally and emotionally if not physically.

We have several teachers in our immediate family, both in various provinces in Canada and back in the UK, and again I see how hard they work for their students, to ensure that they receive the education they deserve, despite local authority or union rules.

The union situation is something different, although I can well understand many of their demands, especially here in BC where the teachers are among the lowest paid in Canada, and there is a great need for special needs teachers which has led to parents of special needs children being told that their child cannot go to school "today" because there are not enough assistants.

I was listening to Michael Enright this morning and couldn't believe the documentary on the struggles that primary teachers have in Ontario getting help from their union and local authorities with being attacked in the classroom by children in Grades 1 and 2, or even kindergarten.

When 2 adults cannot control one 7 year old because he is being so aggressive, there is obviously something very wrong with the system that allows that child to be in a classroom without his own aide when it is known that he cannot be controlled. Not only were the adults injured, but 17 other children were scared and in danger.

I have not heard of such problems in the media here ............... our family members all teach at high school level, and seem to get support when needed.

He has a good radio voice doesn't he. I sometimes catch him on the later version in the early hours of the morning and he does the odd 'Ideas' program too.

Very much reminds me of Alistair Cooke.

He does have a good listening voice. I always try to listen to him on a Sunday morning, there's always at least one excellent documentary.

I believe Oink has a professional, academic interest in the field of education. Plus a delight in winding BE posters up.;)

Oh, I know he is a professional wind up merchant. My viewpoint on unions could be considered less than progressive.
