Long weekends = migraine inducing @ work
 

I am not a fan of long weekends, I dread them in fact because of work and the stress involved with a full hotel, and insufficient staff.

But today was the worst, luckily my shift has been fairly tame and only had to deal with some minor issues overall, but the earlier shifts today were lets just say a total s**t show, and it all stems from insufficient staffing because they don't want to spend money. (don't even get me started on the amount of labor provided off the clock.)

I can't wait for something to come along that isn't this job, even my doctor wants me to quit, but I am gonna hang in there for as long as possible, mostly to pad my resume and add some longevity to it, but man is it hard sometimes to not just walk out and leave and never look back.

Luckily I may have something on the horizon in the airline field at YVR, I passed the first 2 steps of the hiring process, and now just need to pass step 3, which will allow me to move onto an in person interview with a hiring manager.

It would be a commute from hell for a 1-2 months but my partner is willing to move to Vancouver/New West/Richmond, so it wont be a long term commute if I did get the job....

Well done on getting through the 1st two stages - I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the next stage and in-person interview goes well.

It's always easier to get a job if you're in a job so stick tight. Everything will fall into place eventually.:)

We lost 2 people from this weekend, one went on a medical stress leave and the other just didn't show back up to work.....

I turned in my medical leave note from the doctor. The text I got today from them was unprofessional, and uncalled for, and frankly I was being nice by not turning the medical note in last week because I felt bad for them, but after today, I stopped being nice.

The company. I wont answer my phone anymore when they call and I am sleeping, so they resorted to texting me, last nights text was uncalled for, unrelated to my job, the business, and very abrasive and accusatory.


I know someone personally who happened to be one of the many hundreds a year who come through the doors, who needed personal character reference for school, 100% unrelated to my job or company nor does the reference mention my job or the company in any way shape or form.

It's the most screwed up workplace on this planet.

They got wind I did this (they hold grudges and talk down anyone who leaves or quits) and the text was just ridiculous, unprofessional and uncalled for.

Ah, your present employer. I thought it might be the YVR one. If the text is as bad as you say you could ask for an apology. Not sure how strong BC workers legislation is, but in the UK such texts border on harassment and you could raise a grievance.
