Yes they are! I think it's a HUGE shame - I've watched them from up on the escarpment in Hamilton before! ( NYE Fireworks on HK harbour were spectacular, and to music.. you'd be hard pressed to beat them but TO's were pretty close!)

Today would have been the busiest day of the year for local businesses...they will suffer. The stalls are usually open in June but this year the guys down there said it’s only beginning of July to end of August. There’s nothing like the amenities in Ashbridge’s Bay like there is here.

I will be a month late for HK’s fireworks next year.

I watched the fireworks over Parliament Hill 21 years ago with my Canadian husband. It was simply fabulous. I hope to one day be able to go back and celebrate Canada Day in Ontario once again. I've been Montreal for Canada Day but not really celebrated there. A complete blah experience but the in-laws did throw a great party.

The Canadian and US flags are flying outside our home this morning.

Happy Canada Day!

I'm mostly hiding in my air conditioned house. It's brutally hot and humid outside and we have more of this to come. Souvette is mostly slumped in the outdoor spa we put up yesterday.

Yep it's toasty. Wednesday is supposed to be hotter still.

By "outdoor spa" do you mean that you've bought a paddling pool?

No. It's a real spa. About six feet in diameter. It's inflatable, so we can empty it and pack it away in winter.

It's a tad warm for a hot tub today! I trust you haven't put the heater on on it!

Winter is THE best time for hot tubs.. nothing like sitting back, snow falling, sun going or gone down, a glass of something and letting the cares of the world disappear. I miss those days, sigh. One tip, take off the wet clothes as soon as you exit the water and wrap yourself in a hooded bathrobe - you won't get half as cold as if you have wet clothes on!

It's too darn hot today to do anything except stay indoors! Even going out to water the beans the heat and humidity took my breath away. You'd think it wouldn't affect me after all the years I spent in Hong Kong, but that hot breeze is so draining.

Happy Canada Day all!

Today we moved the horses from one boarding barn to another. This entailed persuading them that they wanted to be inside a metal box on wheels. I could see why they were not keen.

a hot spa today would be suicide. I did think about getting a paddling pool just to put my feet in! Well more for the dog really but it's really too hot for him to be outside much today.

Friends back in the old country tell me that it's just as hot and humid there but I'm not convinced.

I saw one on Canadian Tire's website that would have been perfect, 18" deep and 5ft across (they had a 6' one too) with rigid sides so no worrying if the dog would put her nails through.. it was about $34 and I was sooo tempted.. just to be able to sit on a chair at the side with my feet in or even in water and have a little splash lol.
