I've never really understood this about the Canadian system, especially when you come out of hospital needing a drug to complete the recovery and you can't necessarily have it.

And if you're having infusion treatments that could be done in a hospital but, instead, are done at clinics, why do you have to pay just because it's done at a clinic? Do they arrange for it outside of a hospital so it's not counting as hospital treatment and 'saves' money?

Oliver isn't a big place, so this is a big deal. Back in the day, it used to be the Reopel Hotel:

That is my guess, just a way to save money.

I have only had infusion medications once, for about 10 days, but it was done in hospital so no cost.

Every patient the hospital treats for something comes from their annual budget.

It's the cheese we have to worry about.

"When border officials referred the driver for a secondary examination, they found eight skids of undeclared cheese, weighing 3,990 kilograms"

Made me think of Ferdinand Waldo Demara; ever since seeing the movie with Tony Curtis way back when, I've thought it a fascinating story.

Looks like Chilliwack Hospital is short staff, and will be closing their maternity unit for undisclosed period of time. Abbotsford is next closest hospital about 30 minutes to the west.

I heard that on the radio this morning. Just didn't pick up where it was happening.

Twist in the Northern BC murders, the 2 teens initially thought to be missing, are now considered suspects and on the run.

No great surprise. That was my first thought when I heard the initial reports on the radio. Not claiming any great intuition, it was just the way it came across.

They've certainly covered a lot of ground. They were on security video in the hardware store in Meadow Lake Sask up by my friend's place, then a burned out vehicle was discovered on the Bird reserve on Fox Lake Cree Nation up in northeast Manitoba. That's almost to Hudson's Bay! I think they must have had a bunch of jerrycans to avoid being caught on camera at gas stations. This can't go on for long, and unless they've already altered their appearances and gotten to a city where they can get lost in the crowd I don't think they have much of a chance. There aren't many roads to block. Search from the air will be useless if they get off the road but they can't live in the bush and everybody and his dog are watching for them.
