I was looking at this earlier and am so pleased that I can have a place like this (not THE same of course) on a lake for decidedly less than GBP2m

Seriously - is it possible to buy a lake in Canada? (ie for mere mortals)

You can buy land around a lake or have a lake on you property, you cannot just buy a lake.

We are fortunate enough to live on a lake, something that was simply 'Pie in the sky' in the UK....a wonderful way of life to be sure for those so inclined, the icing on the cake for rural life.

But if you have a lake on your property you then own the lake? As in it's not classed as being public and nobody else would have access to fish it? (I'm not clear on what you're saying because why can't you just buy a lake if that's what someone is selling? When you buy a lake in other countries it would usually include a margin of land around it or at least part way around it for access which could be as little as the bank and a track.)

We have some ponds, I suppose they're only different from lakes in terms of size. No one else has use of them, they're private in the same way as, say, one's back garden.

That same GBP2M can buy a more sizeable lot on the Naramata bench! Although I do love the lake district :D

I think that whether or not other people have access to it is somewhat moot. There is nobody else there.

They aren't joking when they describe it as remote.
