Lea & Perrins Cook's Helper Garlic Saucce

It appears to be no more. I can't find it on the L&P site. I have found references to people believing it's not available anymore but they've been dated since before I last bought a bottle.
Search results include mysupermarket price comparison but they say not available.

Has it been kidnapped? What's the ransom?

This stuff was brilliant for splashing (like a vinegar shaker) over chicken breasts in a casserole dish - nothing else added. Great garlic flavour chicken in a way that just garlic doesn't do.

What's an equivalent? Something that gives the flavour while keeping the chicken moist and tender and isn't a garlic sauce as such.

You could try Garlic Olive Oil, that might work quite well for what you describe. Probably has a different flavour though.

Good suggestion. Probably worth having anyway.

Slightly off topic, but in a daze the other day, I bought what I thought was a big tub of Costco’s minced dried garlic, always good for lobbing into sauces, and accidentally bought minced California garlic instead. It’s very horrid and I’ve got a 1.36kg jar of the stuff...not nice at all quite bitter...

You can chuck it any time you like
But it will never leave.
Welcome to the Garlic California

I always make my own infused olive oils. Just put a couple of cloves of garlic (I slice in half) into a jar/bottle and fill with good quality olive oil. Let it sit in a dark cupboard for a month or so and it's lovely. You can also used chilies or whatever else you want to flavour your oil with. :)

You may have found a use for all those little jars my MIL has kept
We have one with olive oil and sliced courgettes in. They go nicely in a salad.

And very good it is too! Don't know if you can get an equiv. in Canada.

We have minced garlic which is fine for flavouring (as is real garlic of course) but not for my purpose. That Hungarian one is on Amazon USA (best before 2017 ) and while Amazon lists it as garlic cream, the description says paste. Apparently Walmart sells garlic puree/paste so that's worth a look. I've always thought it was the runniness of the Lea and Perrins one that made it work so well but I can certainly try the paste, diluted maybe. After all, Patak's Pastes work well.
Cheers.

Could try this: Roasted Garlic Balsamic Marinade In A Bag Lea & Perrins ®
Amazon have a lot of different kinds of marinades that might work.. https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=Roasted+Garlic+Marinade&ref=nb_sb_nosshttps://www.amazon.ca/DREWs-Roasted-Garlic-Dressing-Marinade/dp/B00QGLA80E/ref=sr_1_21?keywords=Roasted+Garlic+Marinade&qid=1559460730&s=gateway&sr=8-21
I have peeled garlic (in a plastic jar) for when I have time and garlic puree for the times I don't :) ( a little goes a long way) https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/derlea-.../6000148205439

No I just had a look on British Corner Shop and they don’t have it either Bristol. I would so enjoy the opportunity to just wander vaguely around a well stocked British Supermarket. We have a new Sobeys here...and Very nice it is too! Quite a lot of new products that we don’t see generally, mostly from Quebec. My son said “it’s almost like being in Europe”...which it isn’t...but for here it does feel quite adventurous!

I just got my BBC Good Food magazine, and you can buy ready to bake Cornish Pasties in the UK now...be still my beating heart...what an utterly delicious thought  Any of you out there thinking of moving to Fredericton with a franchise for Greg’s Bakery would be warmly supported...

I'm pretty sure my last bottle came from a bit of home and they don't have it now.

Stepdaughter came back from work yesterday with a selection of different things to try

You could always try to replicate it since they're kind enough to tell you what's in it. If you mix up 1 cup each time you try there's lots of opportunity for adjustments without risking a big batch.

Yes, the paste might come in handy for that.

For the little bit work it takes, I'd just use fresh garlic and a garlic press; garlic is cheap.
