TORONTO - Three liquor stores in the GTA recently sold booze to a 14-year-old boy whose identity was hidden because he was wearing a full-length burka and face veil at the time.

The teenager, clad in an Islamic female’s traditional garb of a burka, headscarf and facial covering, shopped in three different LCBO stores north of Toronto last Wednesday.

In each location, the Grade 8 student paid cash for a bottle of Sambuca liqueur.

Ontario’s Liquor Licence Act requires that before liquor is sold, government-issued photo ID — a drivers licence, for example — must be inspected if the buyer is suspected of being under the legal drinking age of 19.

What would make me suspicious is why the LCBO employees didn't wonder why someone in a burkha was in a liquor store in the first place! I thought alcohol was forbidden in Islam.

Good point. And Sambuca? For the love of god! Someone should have intervened if only on the grounds of good taste!

I think I have seen many Muslims of the Saudi type drink alcohol.

If we intervened every time someone displayed bad taste, BE would have only half the posts and there'd be no Lounge or TIO forums.

I think the LCBO employees involved should be fired and charges laid. Even for a first offence. No face visible, no service.

How does one tell without removing the face covering whether they're the Saudi type?

Well if they look like this it might be an indicator that they are Muslim but not always the Saudi type.

Yup Im aware and I think I mentioned about the men in post 7.
I was merely pointing out the myth about Muslims not partaking in alcohol or drugs and in particular Saudi Arabians though Im sure others do as well.
