Jon & Kate Plus Eight

Surprised this pot hasn't been stirred yet... ;)

A screeching harridan married to a brainless block of wood...
Cute kids turning increasingly precocious and unlikeable...
Uh-oh, the cracks in the marriage begin to appear.....
Kate perfecting her "Diana doe-eyes" look, and Jon acting like a sailor on shore-leave....
Lawyers sharpening claws, bankruptcy surely an inevitability...

What's not to love about this?! It's car-crash TV at it's finest!

I can't believe that so many people have watched this husband wife team of grifters for so long. Kate, to me, is an absolute diva b*tch and her husband is pretty aimless...the kids are hopelessly behind in their verbal skills and their life seems to be dictated by photo ops, staged events and the paparazzi.

If you want to wallow in snarkiness of these two, I would suggest

For what it is worth, the vow renewal in Hawaii was a completely staged train wreck and I think Jon checked out of the relationship ages ago.

It's like reading an Enid Blyton book where the last chapter was written by Stephen King.

Very true! I must say, I never watched reality tv in the UK - and don't own a tv here in Canada - but whenever I am at my parents' house I get my Jon & Kate fix on TLC. I can't explain why the on-going saga interests me, but 101 tabloid covers show I'm not alone.

I like the current "kid in the balloon" fiasco.

Who can't laugh at a 6 year old dropping his parents in it on national tv hahahahaha

Sorry, if my snarkiness didn't transmit properly...PBS is like BBC2....somewhat highbrow. The Real Housewives has versions in Orange County (the original), NYC, NJ and Atlanta. I've only watched the Orange County and NYC versions and they are true car crash TV at its best/worst.

The Orange County and NYC versions basically have a pool of fame hungry women who will do anything on TV for the 15 minutes of fame and they are put into situations where they interact with other 'housewives' in contrived situations. In the Orange County version, 'Slade' is one of the stars of the show and the NYC version star is 'Simon' as far as I am concerned.

In reality, these shows are cheap to make, full of product placement, strangely addictive, but they signal the end of civilization as we know it.

Because it helps to fill the nagging void in our intrinsically empty and meaningless lives?

I've not seen the show so I was taking it to mean the sort of attention seeking you get on internet forums (and of course Canadians are materialistic, everyone likes to have nice things, nice car, nice house, camera, laptop, phone, ipods etc)
