John Smeaton - Hero of our times

Did you see this Glasgow airport worker on worldwide TV giving his accounts of Saturday's Glasgow airport incident? We saw the CNN report and were laughing when John said that once he realised this was a terrorisist attempt he ran over "to put the boot in". NOBODY was going to mess with HIS Glasgow !!!!

Someone has now set this legendary guy up with a blog page.

Here are some news clips

Have a read of the comments left by adoring fans.
"Only in Glasgow do suicide bombers need rescued from the locals by the police"

Let's not forget the other hero who unfortunately had his leg broken as he tackled the terriorists. A big thank you to him too. We all wish you a speedy recovery

Well done big man - FREEEEEEEEEDOMMMMMMMMMM

I like this comment "As thousands of Glaswegians queued, moaned and sneakily sipped Buckfast on a rainy Saturday afternoon, one man stood vigilant outside the airport terminal. Baggage supervisor, hero, smoker. John Smeaton.

Little did he know, as he happily dragged on his fag, that two crazed al-Qaeda operatives were preparing to meet their maker. But they didn’t meet their maker. Instead they met BAA’s answer to Jack Bauer.

As the Jeep’s engine revved and the passenger started chucking the petrol containers out the windows like he was Santa in Shettleston, one man stepped in to help The Law take control."

Speaking as a civil engineer I was most disappointed to find that this thread was not a tribute to this bloke.

He He are you gutted?

So many hilarious comments in this.

"That’s right Osama, this is how we do things in Raintown. This ain’t London. There’s no stiff English upper lip here, no WAGs. And it sure ain’t Edinburgh - they’d all be hiding in Harvey Nicks and hysterically babbling about their Tuscan villas. There’s no ‘Big J’ in Edinburgh airport, there’s no ‘Smeato’ at Heathrow. Here we take the law into our own hands. And feet."

Couple of quotes (allegedly)

two quotes from an eye-witness.........John Smeaton (these are real)

John just surpassed himself on the National ITV news.

The interviewer asked

"What message do you have for the bombers?" -

John replied.......... "This is unacceptable, this is Glasgow .... if they want tae come tae glasgow, then we'll just set about them"

John also did an interview on CNN and they asked how he restrained the guy and he said ....

"Me and other folk were just tryin tae get the boot in and some other guy banjoed him" !

There is an email going about on a similar theme but there are sweary words in it so I wont post it here.
If you want a copy drop me a p.m.

Yep!

I don't usually watch the various American series but I have watched "24" on DVD and got hooked. SO different without the ads!
