Those aren't UK pancakes.

I had my American ones for breakfast this morning.

Shrove Tuesday! I used to love pancakes.. either with lemon juice and sugar - or savoury with a ham, cheese and mushroom sauce inside....
So who's going to toss one or two pancakes today? :D

Back in the day we had Tate and Lyle syrup on ours.

Nutella or similar is nice enough and maybe banana too.

You can buy golden syrup here (Tate and Lyle syrup) :)

When I was feeling 'indulgent' I would layer either sliced bananas or strawberries and cream between 3 pancakes and serve with an additional dollop of extra thick double cream .. ahhhh memories!
:D

Who remembers the song!
Pancake day, Pancake day.
Nows the time to fry them.
Pancake day, Pancake day.
Nows the time to fry.
For today is Sunday,
Then tomorrow's Monday,
Tuesday gay is pancake day.
Lets toss our cares away.
Toss them high, Toss them high, Toss them to the ceiling.
Toss them high, Toss them high - catch them ere they fall.

Oo Pancake Day.
Pancake tossing and pancake races.

MrBEVS can eat as many pancakes as can be produced.

Lemon and sugar or jam.

I'm not sure how my pancakes are going to turn out this evening .............. though we'll have them with lemon and fine sugar.

We've got used to making no-dairy pancakes by using a 50-50 soy milk/water mix, but I'll be trying to make gluten-free ones later today.

Wish me luck!

It will be interesting to see if they stand up to OH tossing pancakes!

No disrespect but looking at those ingredients for pancakes and if served to me I might be tossing them either in the bin before digestion and probably after aka upchucking.

FL .......

they weren't anywhere near as bad as I had feared!!

They did taste more like American pancakes, especially buttermilk ones, and were heavier than the traditional English pancake. But we didn't throw any away.

Sometimes you have to make do with what you can eat, or be ill.

Glad you enjoyed them and Yes not all can eat what others eat for a variety of reasons.

I might try and make some using coconut or almond milk (cannot stand soy milk) not sure how watery it will be though.

That's good news. Nothing worse than a promise of a good pancake which falls flat. :p

We did not manage the pancakes. MrBEVS was on civil defence duty re bush fires.

Good thing though is that all the civil defence folk and firemen were each given a dozen eggs as a thank you for a free range hen farm that was saved. So plenty pancakes this coming weekend. I even have some winter lemons on the lemon bush.
