How is this for stupid.

I once kicked a bomb "look alike" across the street because my patrol had been out on the streets for four hours and we needed a rest.

It was my turn to check it out, and I decided it looked like a fake so rather than wait out on the streets for the Bomb Disposal (which would have meant sitting in one place for a couple of dangerous hours) I would kick it and see if I was right!

Of course I was an immortal 18 year old then when I had no thought of consequences.....
