Actually Belgium is one of those countries I drove through to get somewhere else - Germany, Holland etc.

Apart from Beer and Chocolates all I remember is rain and grey cities.

I saw a program about a restaurant in Belgium that serves rats. They have rat catchers that go trap them along the canals and they cook it up into this grey mucky stew, (looks like rabbit or duck in mushroom sauce, a bit) so can't throw stones, but it's the sentiment. And the place is booked solid and you have to reserve months in advance. I also knew some Belgian girls and they were wonderful, and of course I love their chocolate, anyone else into the little Halloween chocolate bars yet?

Moule frites. Steak frites. Europop. Less dangling wires than Canada. Belgium seems a pleasant enough place.

There was a restaurant in Edinburgh doing the same recently, except they didn't call it rat, they had another name for it.... 'Chicken' iirc....

When I was hunting with some natives back in the 70's they were shooting at muskrats, (said they ate them) but when I asked if they tasted like duck or rabbit they were evasive and said they just tasted like muskrat - apparently it has a unique flavour.

There are plenty of great places in Belgium to visit, e.g. Brugges but Knokke-Heist is pretty good for a seaside holiday. It's a place that people in Holland go to for weekend breaks. I was never that keen on Brussels though.

I also give Belgium an upvote and even like Brussels. The Belgians are friendly, speak a bit slower than the the French, the ambience not that much different from other Northern European places. A bit like a European New Brunswick.

It's Bruges in French (and English) and Brugge in Flemish (and German).

Brugges isn't any language that I'm aware of.

Isn't Belgium a field in Europe were Britain and Germany meet for a fight every now and then?

Well, three-quarters of it, I thought it got silly toward the end.
