Anyway - this is redneck Country, and I've never seen washing on a line since I moved here! I don't have a compost either; though I've been meaning to do that for ages, too. :o I do recycle everything that there are facilities for, though. (Very sad that the plastics recycling place went under years ago).

However, when one is up to one's arse in Aligators, one tends to forget the object was to drain the swamp!

One would imagine that in AB / Redneck heaven that the ideal clothes drier would involve some form of V8 engine at the very least! :D Merely burning electricity to do the job on a sunny day is a bit namby pamby liberal Torontonian.....

Here on the Rock Mrs AX utlises the rare sunny day to the full by and strings our smalls across the lawn for all to see. She even gets up early on a fine day to do so. What ever works for her is fine by me as I pay the 'leccy bill!

We also compost with a fevour although other forms of recycling are limited here to well, bottles mainly. Its amazing how many beer/wine/spirit bottles one can accumulate in a seemingly short time.......

That's why I did wonder if there was actually a law against it! I have never seen a washing line here at all!!

However, I might continue at least semi-drying my heavier items in the sun, then fluffing them up with the drier, just to save electricity! .... til we get a new washing machine I'm gonna have to anyway!

Hey, compared to some close relatives who live in the Republic (the Republic of Boulder, Colorado), we may as well be driving Hummers to McDonalds for supper. They heat their house with bio-diesel and power their well pump with a windmill. I suppose this is all very commendable but there's no way I'm drinking home made mead.

LOL - quite! :D My excuse is the most energy efficient appliances available ;)

I'm (I say 'I', 'cos if I didn't do it, I doubt the rest of the family would bother  ) better than most here - I really am disgusted at the amount of recyclables I see in my neighbours driveways on garbage day. We usually produce only one bag of garbage a week (famiy of five), yet all my neighbours seem to put out anywhere from three to six!

I just don't get the logic of bagging grass clippings in plastic and sending them to the land fill! I've frequently seen ten plus bags lined up for the bin man!!

Ah, having discovered the miracle that is a mulching mower I mulch it all back into the grass. Nowt to do with being particularly environmentally concious (cos if I was I'd have a goat to eat the grass rather than a honda powered lawnmower) but means I dont have to stop to keep emptying the confounded bag. :D

And cantering to finish in last place...

trail mix muffins
most of my family
the smell of skin that has been out in the fresh air
the first crisp winter morning of the new season (January/February don't count somehow)
Maya gold chocolate
