What's the problem? Haven't seen them for years, but used to get the books as a bairn every Christmas.

I wonder if PC Murdoch has a Kevlar anti-stab vest now? Wullie's probably got a few ASBOs, and half the Broons bairns have probably been taken into care for having to sleep eight to a room. Paw's job at the shipyard has probably long gone, so maybe Daphne and Maggie are turning tricks to keep the family in mince and tatties.

Incidentally, I don't believe good use of grammar and correct spelling is a sign of being smart (necessarily), nor being poor at it a sign of being Tim-nice-but-dim!
