Since we have been in Winnipeg (10 years) the latest its snowed (and stayed) was the end of November and the earliest spring thaw was in March.

Winter is normally 6-7 months, but is bright and sunny for much of the time.

This was our last dump of snow in May this year!!!

(the sunny one was the day after the snow fall)

There's a lawn bowling club? Does it meet in January?

Yes, though it's then called the snowballing club.

Hi there - I am a Realtor in Niagara on the Lake and the snow here usually starts in Jan and may last to Mid March - we have a micro-climate effect here becuase we are on Lake Ontario. We have many superb wineries , Live Theatre, fine dining, easy access to Toronto & New York and a gorgeous bungalow of 2,000 sq ft. is about 250 GBP . Lots of Brits retire here.
Best wishes

Nova Scotia is the warmest province.

It is mild in September-December, hovering around 5-18 in the daytime and between -10-0 at night.

It reaches -30 for 2 weeks in February, then goes back to being a bit warmer gradually.

Often, NS has what we call, politically uncorrect as it is, Indian Summers. These can occur in October-February. i can remember wearing a dress outside with no jacket or toque or any outside gear on Valentine's day 1987.
Mid march 1996 was in the +30 celsius range.

As for snow, different parts of NS get different amounts. The south shore is in a snow belt as is Cape Breton. Halifax, which is near the harbor gets little to no snow. There are usually 1-3 snow days for schools a winter.

Sorry if this was a little long.

We might get a couple of snowfalls a year, that last a couple of days then melt. Mind you, it doesn't half persist down in November.

Lived in NW Ontario where winter was fab!! Usually snowed by mid-October, so all the kids would go out trick-or-treating in snow gear. Temperature would drop to mid-20s by end of November and plummet to -40s in January, blue sky and sunshine every day!! 2 ice roads in the municipality would be open for 3 months. Very dry conditions, so snow is light and powdery, with thaw around end of April.
Winter was verrrry long up there, but great for winter sports!!

Winter in Ottawa - have only experienced one so far ... almost 14ft of heavy wet snow! Bleh!
