How have you personalised your computer?

I've never been overly keen on this, other than the odd nice bit of wallpaper, but my stepdaughter was mucking about on the laptop I am transitioning from and I liked the look of something on Firefox, so now I have it on my new laptop.

I changes loads of stuff, overall layout is like W7. Pisses me off when MS do an update and change it all back, then I have to start over. I like it how I like it.

Change visual appearance, turn off all sound effects, change default programs, anything that gets automatically sent to MS it turned off, display settings and power saving settings. Add in security, use Norton and Trusteer Rapport.

 I never even considered that would happen if one made it appear like W7. How irritating. :frown:

Just the usual beer and takeaway food stains.

Wallpaper is photos of grandson, stopped all startup programs except essential Windows services and programs I want at startup - printer control centre, internet usage monitor, temperature sensing program (gets hot here so sometimes have to put floor fan on to keep it in safe limits) antivirus etc. all other programs I only open when I need them.Put shortcuts on taskbar to make it easier to find!(Word, email etc) Other than that just coffee on the keyboard, makes it sticky but a weekly clean takes care of that!

You could splash out on a new one when that happens...and then buy another one in a never ending cycle.

Every week I get a sheaf of flyers in the mailbox, one of those makes a fine splatter-shield. I peel the stupid Windoze and assorted MS stickers off and put them on my vaporisers, replace with Linux stickers on the laptops that I use.

Wall paper is just black, no photos. Along the frame of the computer, I put some snoopy and gang stickers. Desk top is just random stuff I saved.

My wallpaper is the steam engine I drove when I was little, (it was probably on this last trip in the picture).

Now that's what I call personalising something.

I don't usually bother, but I took this great picture while travelling across Lake Simcoe of a VERY unusually calm Lake Simcoe in the middle of the day a few weeks ago.....perfect for my wallpaper, I find it very soothing.

Desktop looks like this. Taken from the observation floor of the highest building on the coast. Don't know why I have this direction when I live in the opposite direction! I hate any icons on the desktop, I even hide the bin as much as it lets me.
