Lucky us are off to a friends wedding in January in Mexico WOOHOO. However untravelled me (apart from going to Vegas to get married) has never really been anywhere like that before.

We are going for a week, one day will need a wedding outfit (black and white theme???) but I have no idea what to take.

Don't want to take a honking great big case of stuff i'll never wear - so for those of you that have been away somewhere warm - what were your essentials? Did you take something to change into at night a bit more dressy? What footwear? couple pairs of flip flops and something smarter - I have no idea :(

sandals, a t-shirt per day + a couple of spares, a couple of pairs shorts is all i'd take. it might be different for women though...

Take a summer skirt or sundress in crinkle cotton stuff ... the kind of fabric that doesn't need an iron. Dress it up with bangles or big beads for evening.

Don't take as much as your thinking - you won't wear it. I've not been to Mexico but if I were lucky enough to go I would take a couple of pairs of shorts and some t-shirts, one dressier item (that won't get worn because I'd buy something there that I'd want to wear) and I'd take a jumper and some jeans - just in case. Oh don't forget the swimwear:thumbsup:

Sensible advice there :) Definitely don't forget the pair of jeans or other long trousers, and a jumper or light jacket, as depending on whereabouts you're going, you could easily be looking at night time temps of down to 15-16C in Mexico in January.

You'll need casual beach wear stuff, swim suit, tee shirts, flip flops etc for day time. Then smart casual outfits for going out to dinner in the evening. Don't take jeans, you're going to Mexico, take kaki's or light trousers.

thanks all. Good idea about buying something there, couple sarongs (awesome awesome idea), couple flip flops, pair flat dressier sandals, 3 pairs shorts, couple of bikinis, 6 vest tops, 6 going out tops, one wedding outfit, couple of skirts, pair of jeans, light sweater and a light jacket (as well as all the other girly add ons like jewellery and accessories!!)

My aim was to fit it all into one of those small pull along suitcases, cos I get sick to death of lugging a shipping container behind me.

I will write this list down now and attach it to the fridge :thumbup:

not super excited right now - theres too much to do here (immi stuff to finalise, basement renos, christmas blah blah blah) so i'll get all excited when the case gets packed.

Theres a really nice camo set that would make an excellent bd present :thumbup:
