Home Alone too?
 

Just wondered if there's anyone else at home alone in the UK while their OH is working in Canada on TWP while awaiting PR?
Feeling a bit down :( and wondered how others were coping.

That's it. He's not having a good time over here, on his own, taking advantage of the local scenery, he's obviously just pining for Her Indoors. As all males do.;)

Oink, FYI, I am missing my wife VERY much. Being apart is proving harder than I ever imagined, and I am counting down the days until I see her again. I love Canada, but I love my wife more, and can't wait until she comes out to join me.

Any insinuation about 'sampling delights' is not welcome, whatever spirit the post was made in, thank you.

Haven't you even you started leering at mannequins in shop window yet? That's usually the first sign that my OH has been way from home to long;) (I've got used to comments like Oink over the years)

My OH works away from home for months at a time (since June he's only been home for about 5 days) and so I know how difficult it is not seeing each other. Chin up it won't be forever maybe plan something special for when you do get back together:)

I know how you feel, hun. My OH is in the Navy, so we are apart quite alot, sometimes for 6 months. It's hard to not let it get you down but you'll find yourself becoming so independant. Just think of all the 'catching up' you'll get to do when you join him! :D

I can relate to that. When we first moved to Canada, we lived in army housing. The husbands were away a lot and few of the wives were from the area. It was clearly very hard for some of them.

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive (barring the obvious exceptions).
I am finding this a lot harder than I thought - after all, I was the one saying it was the practical choice, encouraging my OH and pushing things forward.
Now there are times I just want to say, "Come home, sod immigration!", but I know this is going to be very good for my OH in his work as well as a great new experience for us as a couple. I feel like such a wimp for missing him so much!
Oink will love this, being the romantic he is - my OH is now flying back and arriving on Christmas Eve, so that we can spend Christmas and my birthday (which is a few days later) together:wub:. 98 days to go:)
I see he has posted on here, which he doesn't do often at all - he must be quite annoyed. He is a very loyal, loving husband, we are so sad to be apart and he takes being married very seriously. Please respect that, Oink-types.

It must be hard, my dad was away lots and i know how my mum felt, as did us as kids.

But i forget, why ARE you not with him?

I am asking myself that every day:), but it is lots of boring reasons.
We have pets to transport and a house to sell. We didn't want his job offer to disappear, so we wanted him to start asap but we didn't want to risk selling everything and both moving out there in case
a) job didn't work out
b) OH thought Canada wasn't for us after all
c) PR didn't come through in time (or at all!)
in which case we would have to come back.
Also, I am a teacher, which is a regulated profession and it would be a while before I could get my BCCT registration and then jobs take time. (Could do other jobs and probably will do initially, but I love teaching and want to continue if possible.)
SO, this is the most sensible option - I can still work here as normal, OH gets to decide whether B.C really is for us without any pressure and plan is he scopes out places to live, gets bank account, builds up credit rating etc and then I tie up everything here when PR comes through :fingerscrossed: (Also exchange rate is pants - PR processing time might be enough for it to improve a bit and hopefully also UK housing market.)
BORING, but I think it is my turn to support my OH for a change - he has supported me so many times.
