Holiday advice?
We are just in the process of applying to emigrate and are coming to Canada to holiday in the summer for around three weeks. we will be visiting British Columbia and Alberta to look at different places. We will be booking the holiday independantly and fly driving. Could anyone advise whether it will be easy enough to book hotels once at our destination or will they need booking up before our holiday. We will be holidaying in August. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Holiday advice?
Check maps and plan your routes carefully. Pardon me if I sound condescending, but the distances involved might be much greater than you realize. Both BC and Alberta are much larger than the entire UK. This sometimes catches visitors from Europe off-guard.

Re: Holiday advice?
what Bill said, you are better to plan your rout and work out the distance between each place you plan to visit and August is a busy time of the year. if you work out where you plan to go I would book up early for a hotel room, we tried to book up hotels in Baniff and Jasper and could not even get a hotel close well not unless you have mega bucks. we did hire a motorhome one year but if those mozzies get in you are eaten alive and we found places to hook up no probs, heck we even went to places we never planned on our rout and it was great, only the dam mozzies spoiled some of the places we went. good luck with your trip

Re: Holiday advice?
We have generally found campgrounds to be full but lower end hotels available in the bigger areas - Banff/Jasper/Calgary/Edmonton. I would advise booking ahead where possible. I will also say about the distances between places. We did a bit of BC and a bit of AB on out reccie. We started out in Calgary went to Lethbridge upto Nelson and back through Revelstoke. We also spent a night at Drumheller and then a couple of days at Red Deer. We stopped at other places in between those centres - that's just to give you an idea of how far you can go in 2 weeks. We were in a motorhome and we travelled everyday apart from when we got to Red Deer and hubby got an interview for the following day, so instead of 2 days in Calgary before the flight home we had two in Red Deer.
