Not at the moment as the salmon have all naffed off up the river, plus the ice hockey season has started so the locals will be bleating on endlessly about that shite for the next nine months.

How could they not be? From your link:

" It is impossible to have an intelligent conversation with a Canadian and they are so gung ho that Canada is the best country in the world to live in .
Well ,if you like six month winters every year, minus 40c temperatures,Vast distances of boring landscape any time you want to go anywhere,Tacky ,ugly cities and towns , living in plywood boxes with roofing felt roofs and plastic wall coverings(outside)and a general air of every thing tempory tacky and cheap thenif you value this sort of environment I guess it could be construed as a good place to live.Oh and I forgot the trigger happy bozos they call police officers ready to shoot or taser anyone who may be a threat to them."

I reckon the response will depend on ‘when’ you ask

Asking in July August or September you’ll be much more likely to get a positive reponse compared to asking in February or March
But then again if you’re a smart journalist you wouldn’t be here in February or March

Knowing that ice hockey pisses you off raises my happiness in Canada level from 99 to 100%.

It doesn’t piss me off as such, you just sort of feel a bit sorry for them. As a culture they sort of like your special needs cousin who obsesses over Tapirs or Reversi. You know that they'll never amount to anything really. :(

Tapirs! I used to obsess a bit over those. Never really understood why.

Perhaps you're Oink's special needs cousin. Have you amounted to anything yet?

Nice. Did you take that or is it from the web. I didn't know that they climbed trees (my obsession faded about forty years ago :)).

Yes, that's more like it. Beautiful beasts. Glad Noah had room for them, back in the day.

I thought it must be a bit tricky to climb trees with hooves, but wasn't sure.

Yes, I think might be a tree climbing anteater. :)

I took it in Tortuguero National Park in north east Cost Rica. This was unusual because it was in daylight. They are normally mostly nocturnal

You could well be correct. I defer to your superior knowledge. Maybe I buggered up my notes, I'll have to check and correct the title. This is from my Costa Rica gallery.

Its cool anyway, especially as they're usually nocturnal.

Re: Hello Happy People

Using state-of-the art (as yet unreleased) "Photo to 3D model" software, I traced around that animal to define its three dimensions. Then I used the automatic processing to turn the outline automatically snap to the object in the photo.

I then edited and manipulated the model, rotating it, enhancing colours and lighting and enlarging it in the process.

Finally, using a software add-on which deterministically models and textures hidden surfaces into the rotated model, I was able to produce this photo-match of the animals face.

And here is that image, from which you can now clearly identify the genus and species of the originally photographed animal:

One the places I lived in DC was next to the zoo and the tapirs were the first animals on the right when you went in. They snuffled about a bit but were much less noisy and better behaved than some of the parrots and monkeys.

How about Belted Galloway cattle, not quite the same species as the tapir, but they are found on these isles, and after a few ales they do bear a resemblance. ;)
