Having a Crappy Day
I woke up today feeling plop and the day has just gotten worse. I am now sitting here looking at how cheap a flight I can find to go back to the UK for a week or so. Not that I would go back but it makes me feel slightly better!
I left BC a month or so ago and even though I am much happier to be here rather than there, I had started to make friends and now I don't have any again! I know eventually I will find some but it is just getting me down at the moment. Then OH comes home and starts ranting at me about my ability (or should that be inability!) to keep the house clean. Which has really peed me off as the house is CLEAN AND TIDY but I have two kids who happen to want to play with toys in the living room. Am really mad.:curse: |
Re: Having a Crappy Day
Awww Amy I think things will change between you and the o/h when you get some buddies, as you'll find your outlook changes and things seem happier (been there seen it done it).
Its such a cliche but you have to get out there and make the effort - just because Canada is great it doesn't mean that people automatically want to be your friend, you have to put yourself in the picture. Big hug  |

Re: Having a Crappy Day
You should find something really urgent to do on your OH's day off (a spa day should do it). Then when you come home and the house is not immaculate, ask him what he has been doing all day:thumbsup:
As for getting to know people. If you are not going to be working, why don't you try doing some volunteering around what the kids do (maybe in the school). It will sure expand your group of friends and you won't be spending all day tidying up. |

Re: Having a Crappy Day
Right - thats it. You are coming over to me for a coffee and then you can take pictures of my house to show OH and tell him that your house could be SO much worse!!!!
We are only a few minutes away, just give me a ring and we will get together, I think I gave you my number, but I will karma it to you. I tell you what is a crap day - school is shut, so I have 3 children here and back to back Star Wars all day.........though now we are appeasing the toddler with some Dora! The house is an arse and I have parented from the computer chair today. I am scared to get up in case my fear is true and the chair has grown attached to me! Cheer up, its going to be fine! |

Re: Having a Crappy Day
Hi AmyDavid
Been there done that in NS! got the Tee shirt and grey hairs and yet I'm coming back for more!!!! I've just mentioned on another thread about volunteering work in the Halifax area, it's a great way to get out and meet people, especially while the kids are at school. I did volunteer work for the NS Lung Association while I lived out there, I worked on the reception and did some computer work for them. Made some good friends and it kept my hand in at work. Things will get better.....summer is just around the corner and summer in NS is glorious. Chin Up! Liffy |

Re: Having a Crappy Day
Sorry to hear you were having a crappy day yesterday..
I hope you have arranged to have a coffee with poppy2 she is great and I think you have definitely got a friend there.. We all have bad days.. and as for your husband just take it with a pinch of salt, when you are feeling a bit sad any comment always seems worse..It's early days in NS you have had alot of change in your life in the last month, it will get better.. It's not easy keeping up with everything I have 4 kids and I never seem to get any job finished..Ask my husband. I am moving over to Halifax end of next month and I will need a friend, so you will be welcome to come round with the kids anytime for a chat and a coffee, I know poppy2 will be coming round to mine so you will not be alone.. I will pm you my number in Halifax when I get one. Take Care Brown Bear.x. |
