So what has made you happy today? Brought a smile to your face, the warm glow of happiness to your inner being?

Me, I am just back from a swim at the resort down the road, had the pool to myself. On the drive back I saw 5 osprey and now I am sitting drinking a wee cappuccino in my studio looking out onto the back yard. Life is good.

Hmm, what made me happy today.

I bought tickets to go to Canada's Wonderland with my husband, my brother, and my brother's friend. We got them on a cheap deal, so I'm very much looking forward to that.

A friend of mine who is turning 32 wanted to go to Medieval Times for his birthday next weekend, so we also bought tickets to that - it should be an entirely ridiculous experience.

I went grocery shopping at lunch and bought stuff for dinner, so I don't have to fight with the after-work crowds and can go right home and prep up a nice dinner (veg risotto tonight).

And I lost 1lb this morning.

Small things, so overall, it's been a good day! :)

I received an email from a friend in England, always good to hear from her; no snow today in my part of Canada, unlike yesterday; chatted with my kind neighbour; thinking that it's only 10 days until my husband I fly to the UK and Ireland for a fortnight's holiday; found some chocolate in the 'fridge; the TSX (Cdn. stock exchange) is up today.

I enjoyed the fact that it was 22C and sunny whilst working in the garden yesterday afternoon and the fact that the long awaited 'switching on of the bedroom ceiling fan' has come a little earlier this year.

I was happy about seeing a fox, a squirrel, 2 whitetail deer and a bald eagle all on my short drive home from work today.

I was happy that tickets were available for tomorrow night's Ballet Jorgen - Romeo & Juliet at Dalhousie University, Halifax

I was also strangely happy that colleagues in my office thought I was speaking some medieval english when I used the word 'Whilst' in conversation today. :)

Found out today that my surgery is scheduled for next month :thumbsup:

Heading out tonight to Clara's (Hughes) Big Ride event which raises awareness for 'mental health on the road to a stigma-free Canada'. It's also a music event and among the entertainers is George Canyon - local guy who made it big in the Canadian Country music scene. Also another local, Dave Gunning who is the singer songwriter of the new hockey theme for Hockey Night in Canada. They are a talented bunch round my way :)

Not much really, just the fact that nothing's gone really bad. It snowed, my stuff didn't come in the mail, and I still don't know when my surgery will be, but you know what, Bats? if you're happy, I'm happy. :D

I'm happy that you're happy that I am happy. It's a happy thing.

Damn fine day all round. After a nice soak in the tub and a read (a Place of Greater Safety) I popped round to visit an old friend. We had snacks, coffee, saw an Eastern Meadowlark and some bluebirds. Home now. Wine, soup cheese toasties then Masterchef on TV.

Tomorrow will also be a good day. The little things count.

My 32 boxes of stock were all small and only a few contained items needing tagging, so I was able to finish my stock in about an hour, tidied up the mess in the back room and got an early finish:thumbsup:

I felt wobbly on the weekend so today I wandered into the walk in clinic. I was there when it opened, at nine, and was fourth in line. I saw the doctor who wrote a note and told me to take it to Emergency at the hospital. I got there around 10. By noon I'd had blood work, a session with an electric heart monitor thingy, a urine sample analysed and a CAT scan. Two more doctors and a nurse had poked me. I was not dead. This cost me nothing, of course.

Half a day spent at the hospital may not be an obvious cause of happiness but experiencing that quality of care for no fee at the point of service certainly is.

Oh yes, thanks. Still, it's a bit disconcerting when someone looks at the chart coming out of the monitor and asks "when did you have your heart attack?" and you didn't know you had had one.
