Can't they just have more babies? What else is there to do over there?

I wish I had time to spend making babies. I seem to be constantly busy!!

It's not all doom and gloom here. There are places to visit and wonderful people to meet and hang out with... There is a lack of jobs sadly but people remain cheerful... Many who go out west leave their families here so have every intention of coming back...

It's a beautiful place that I'm happy to call home

A provincial immigration policy like Quebec might help.

Note the word for emigration used in the article - outmigration - that's just dumb and dumber.

In my limited experience, it only takes 5 minutes.

Not only foreplay. Also a martini before and a cigarette afterwards. ;)

Some years ago St Danny of Williams, the iconic Newfoundland premier introduced a $1000 baby bonus each new child born in the province. Perhaps Nova Scotia needs could adopt a similar approach?

Seems the issue is lack of jobs so people are leaving to where the jobs are, if they can create jobs and bring down unemployment maybe they can keep more people there and attract more people as well.

You can make all the babies you want, but if there are not enough jobs, people will continue to leave.

That's the nub of it, but "creating" jobs is no easy feat. I think some years back there was a push to relocate call centres to the maritime provinces, a little before they got relocated to India and the Philippines!

Not just that but well paid jobs and wages in general are poor vs the cost of living in NS. Same here in NB.

Seems to me they should be encouraging entrepreneurial immigrants who will not only be able to create jobs but also more likely to stay due to their investment. Perhaps they should add a stream to their PNP routes

Actually, the Provincial government tried that a few years ago. Turned out to be a fiasco and lots of would be entrepreneurs got scammed. It took years trying to clean up the mess. I doubt that they would want to go there again.

Was that a provincial scheme? I thought it was a federal one, something to do with investments, maybe I'm wrong.

I don't see why it would be so hard or why it went horribly wrong, if someone has a good business plan, enough money to fund it & the government thinks it's viable, where's the downside.
