Groupon - Photobook Canada

Has anyone taken up a Groupon for Photobook Canada. I have - $29 for $90 towards a photo book. I decided to take this up to do a book as a surprise for my daughter who is getting married in September. I was advised by DHL that delivery was to be on 30th June, then it didn't arrive and on querying it they said that Customs required more paperwork (coming from Kaula Lumpur for goodness sakes). I have now had a phone call from DHL to say I need to clear customs, need a broker, they are sending me the forms to fill out and detailing the cost of this!

I am going to tell them to forget it and just soak up the loss, it all sounds very iffy tome.

Has anyone else used this service, had problems/trouble?

:-)

I have had DHL problems, every shipment. Fedex much better, they will do the clearance for $7 CAD, plus any taxes and duty owed. DHL put one pallet coming out of New Zealand on the wrong boat and it ended up in Europe. They then flew it back to NZ, on to Aus then on a flight into Vancouver!

You problem with Groupon, contact Groupon, you may get a refund, they are pretty good with these matters. Does depend on the T & C of the pruchse.

Well I certainly won't be using Photobook Canada again. There was no mention in the small print about having to pay extra before delivery, having already paid shipping when placing the order with Photobook.

I have e-mailed Groupon and told them I am certainly not happy and will wait to see what they say. I have had good responses from Groupon before with refunds being made on earrings that were a load of crap!

Or you could try contacting photobookcanada's customer support people Contact Our Support Team | Photobook Canada. They do say in the small print at the bottom of the pricing page Photo Book Shipping Information | Photobook Canada that there may be additional charges, but there are a lot of weasel words in there.

Certain orders shipped to Canada may be subjected to import taxes, custom duties and fees levied by the Canadian authorities. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and can't predict what they may be. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

Re: Groupon - Photobook Canada

It took them two weeks to respond to my e-mail asking why I hadn't received it yet, their site kept showing being printed. Then a week after that I was contacted by DHL, saying delivery 30th June, then DHL said customs wouldn't release it as there was something they were not happy about, then DHL says I have to pay a broker fee to get it - no way they can keep the book. Groupon cannot help either. I suppose the moral of the story is if a deal looks too good, it probably is and be careful to read the small print LOL Lesson learnt. :-)

I got a photobook a few years ago but it was delivered in Canada, absolutely no problems ans was really pleased with the quality. Hope you get yours sorted out.

You should be more careful what photos you put in! Perhaps customs wanted to keep it.

Well here we are July 27th and still waiting for the book to arrive. Had to sign the one off Power of Attorney and am now waiting for them to decide how much extra to charge me. Every time the woman from DHL rings me she signs off with have a nice day and thank you for choosing DHL - at which point I could happily throttle her LOL Don't think I will be using Photobook Canada again.
