Very similar and the squiggly writing is the same so I suspect it just means mustard. It's very good. You have to let it stand for a couple of minutes or the flavour is a bit raw.

Giant Tiger has bacon on sale at 2.50$/lb this week.

Maxi (No Frills - I think - for the rest of Canada) has whole fresh chickens (no giblets) @ 0.57$/lb.

ETA: I’m going to try price-matching the bacon at Maxi as they sell the same brand.

You're not missing out. It's an awful place with awful people in it. In fact all of them are terrible. Whole Foods literally sinks. We used to go to Safeway until it was taken over. Now we just go to Granville Island market and HID goes to Costco when we need stuff like toilet cleaner and batteries.

Yes, and that he is also too posh to shop at No Frills. Granville Island used to be good in the 70's before it got all boutiquey, but I don't like it now.

I suppose I could drive 30 minutes down the road to the nearest Loblaws store to buy the exact same meat & vegetables that are available in local No Frills store and waste time, energy and gas to avoid the shopping at NF stigma...

Safeway was never that great, so Whole Foods should be an improvement. Especially the Amazon led lower priced WF.

I liked Safeway when it appeared in Bristol. It was a cut above and they sold nut cutlets. :nod:

Also, outside London they were the first place I knew that sold 7Up.

I don't mind No Frills for the most part, I don't buy meat or produce though as it's never a very good price, and the Asian markets up the street have better looking meat/produce and prices so I go there instead.

But for cereal, milk, and other staples No Frills offers the best prices for the most part, most of the products I buy are name brand and exact same as at Save On, but No frills is a 3 minute walk vs a 20 minute bus ride...


The issue I have with No Frills is the store is small (compared to Save On, Safe Way, Super Store.) and is very busy so it's not an ideal place to shop when you don't do well in crowded places, luckily they have a few times in the day where it's slower, right when they open at 9am or around 8pm and 2-3pm is usually okay as well.

And because of the area we live in there are some interesting characters in the store most of the time and it's a pain to get out of if you don't buy anything, shoplifting issues so it's been made difficult to leave.


Since it is Loblaws owned you really have to pay attention to the price labels since Loblaws is really good at having a price in larger print then smaller print says when bought in multiples of 2.

Cream last week was 2.00 each or 1.99 each if you bought 2, wow talk about savings... :lol:
