You would have to ask IC why they wont let shoppers leave orders at the main door of apartments but my guess is its because too many people come by and its not secure, anyone could take the order.
Orders have to be delivered to the unit door, otherwise its not considered to have been delivered. For contactless order need to take a photo of the bags at the location you left them, so IC knows where you leave orders, and outside the main lobby door isn't acceptable. Leaving with a concierge in the lobby would be okay, but not all buildings have a concierge. This particular order was also not contactless so had to be delivered to the customer directly. As far as I know IC refunds the customer when the order isn't delivered. So IC wouldn't make anything of his order, and as the items were returned to the store, IC got a refund from Wal-Mart. |

To me, this is the customer taking personal responsibility. As far as I know IC refunds the customer when the order isn't delivered. Imagine if all businesses took deposits from customers and then refunded if the customer cancelled or was at fault in some other way. What would be the point? |

Sure. Just like they could from my front door if I allowed the default of leaving it if I'm not there..
To me, this is the customer taking personal responsibility. The ease with which I've got refunds - even over and above the value of the 'loss' I can well believe it. I just question why it should be the case given they reserve the payment (so it's a guarantee for them and the customer agrees to it) and then the photo is "proof" of delivery. Imagine if all businesses took deposits from customers and then refunded if the customer cancelled or was at fault in some other way. What would be the point? In this case though the app specifically said to hand to customer and not leave unattended. So only option was to hand it to the customer but if customer isn't going to: 1- Provide a buzzer code 2- Answer messages 3- Answer the phone from my call 4- Answer the call from support. Not sure how they expect to have their order delivered. I searched the directory but the names in the directory were last name only and I only had a first name. Just the way IC works, can't deliver a batch your banned 24 hours. Even if its 100% not your fault and you 100% did everything you could do. If I left out front, swiped delivered, and customer didn't get it, and reported it as missing, it would have been even worse, which is why I did not leave it, plus the delivery instructions said not to leave unattended and hand directly to customer. It's just annoying as Sunday is the only busy day of the week, and what we earn on Sunday is how we get through the week. |

Re: Groceries
I am too low on the pole for that as well, I am so low down on the pole that they have gate keepers aka chat agents to block any communications to anyone who could make change. IC doesn't want its contractors to have contact with decision makers, its impossible to get beyond the chat agents who have really no powers to do anything and copy and paste of a script. I assume they are humans, but in this technological age they might be chat bots for all I know.
For economic reasons we stopped buying groceries, and using the food bank for food. Not bad, 2 bags of pasta, 2 cans of sauce, and also provided 3 carrots, some onions, pringles, wheat thins, eggs, 2 frozen lasagnas, chewing gum, yogurt, 2 cans of tuna. Supposed to last 2 adults 1 week.

I got a produce box that opens up some possibilities. I've peeled, sliced, and salted 2 of the 4 cukes with a view to German cucumber salad tomorrow, and some of the other stuff is saying spaghetti sauce; good place to hide the little zucchini (shaddup) and use up the mushrooms. If I have the appetite the meatballs I made yesterday may find a home. Not bad for $4, eh?

Re: Groceries
Do you soak the cukes in milk the night before making your German cuke salad. Mom always did that and then rinsed them well before making the salad.

My friend will come get me in an hour for a trip to Shopper's Drug Mart for a couple of lbs of butter @$2 (recurring sale on the PC app) and to the Superstore next door for the stuff I bought on flashfood and some half & half and maybe some ice cream.

Re: Groceries
Not a bad haul at all.
Cottage cheese is odd for me, its weird as in California I liked it, but the texture and taste in BC is different, not something I enjoy, not sure if its made differently or not, just something I noticed. I wish I could recreate the taste of store rotisserie chicken at home, I normally don't have whole chickens and they make no sense to buy when a fully cooked chicken is the same price and often cheaper, but I did find myself with a whole chicken but just can't match that flame cooked taste with electric oven it seems..ha ha |

I doctored the veggie pizza up with ham and more cheese and had half for lunch and it's pretty good. The idea of planning meals to avoid wasting food took a hit since I got hurt because my appetite isn't as strong, so I have to look through the fridge regularly to make sure something I've forgotten about isn't spoiling.
Have gotten a couple of of those produce boxes before, while some of the produce has been eh and not usable, there has always been $5 worth of usable to make it worthwhile. I wish that app would expand to other chains beyond Loblaw's owned banners, Save On, Safeway, etc. My wife is pretty good at using up usable food we have, I don't have a good appetite courtesy of a medication side effect, downside is the medication also has a weight gain side effect, so despite eating less, I am gaining weight. ha ha Hopefully once your recovered and healed yours will come back! |
Re: Groceries
President's Choice Coffee pods $25 for 72 this week. Same as a couple of weeks ago and coupled with almost $5 worth of points that's just over $20 for 72 cups (plus 2nd uses of a pod for those that like it weaker - or for flavouring for ice cream, cakes or something.)
But for single use only that's 28c a cup. Can't go wrong. |

Re: Groceries
Here's a weird one.
I only ever found one sweetener that didn't have a 'funny taste' and in the UK that was Canderel, over here Equal. It's aspartame and for some reason everyone thinks it's deadly even though all relevant jurisdictions have passed it. The granules are handy for porridge - other cereals are sweet enough except cornflakes with hot milk. ;) but it's the tablets I use for coffee and tea. Anyway every now and then the tablets disappear. Previously I got my mum to send me over some Canderel tablets. They do 'refill' packets in the UK so as well as it being cheaper that way, it wasn't a bulky packet to send over so didn't cost much to end. But they've all disappeared from the shelves again except for the little granules packets of which I have plenty. I looked on Amazon.ca and they were around $19 for 300. Store price is around $8. Before looking for Canderel on Amazon's UK site I looked them up on the Canada site. Sure enough they were listed. Canderel, 300 for $8. Free delivery. So I'm now awaiting delivery of 3 packs. Unfortunately they may not arrive until mid May so I may have to use granules when my tabs run out in a couple of days. Odd that the stores have the granules but run out of tabs. PS - I have found them on a couple of other Canadian sites but either the delivery rates up the price or you need a $50 order to get free delivery and there's nothing else on the site that I want. |
Re: Groceries
Been comparing some prices on IC Wal-Mart vs Costco, per unit price not total price as Costco will always be higher total price wise since the volume is larger so its per unit price. They are the IC prices for each store, but Costco makes it pretty much impossible to price comparison online so the best I could do.
Coca Cola Wal-Mart comes to 45 cents per can for a 12 pack Costco comes to 50 cents per can for a 32 pack. Eggs Wal-Mart 25 cents per egg Costco 33 cents per egg Toilet paper (purex brand) Wal-Mart 42 cents per roll Costco 68 cents per roll Milk 4 liters, Coscto no brand listed, Wal-Mart is Dairyland. Wal-Mart 4.79 Costco $5.79 |
Re: Groceries
Another way stores try and trick the brain.
2 for $10 for 12 packs of Pepsi. So about 41 cents per can. 24 pack is only $8.97 About 37 cents per can. Noticed eggs have gone up in price, over $3/dozen for basic store eggs now. |

Re: Groceries
Eggs went up in price again, at this rate it will be $4/dozen before long, and people in the US complaining their eggs are like $1.50/dozen now...
Milk maybe has gone up, it's $4.79 at Wal-Mart, seems its higher than it was a few months ago. |

Re: Groceries
Made a visit to Sobeys yesterday having been tempted by their cherries @ $3.99/lb.
They've definitely put a lot of their prices up - even the 'new' Panache label seems to be an excuse to charge more. Since when did one of those small Pate slices cost $5.69? $2.99 in Walmart. Anyway, the targeted shop can still be worth doing there. Fresh fruit, bread, cheese, chicken, pork, frozen fries, ice cream and bars, butter spread, HP fruity sauce, pepsi. Receipt shows I paid $112.52, savings of 46% bringing the total down from $206.01. No 'best before' deals and no coupons. Of course I know that I haven't really saved $93 since I would never have paid their (supposed) normal price for any of the things I bought, simply because you never need to. |
Re: Groceries
I bought this box for the peppers and pears, and when I got it home discovered a 1lb pack of organic Cremini mushrooms underneath the bananas, and the rest of the bottom was covered in lemons. I'm a happy camper.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...8ee5a26b5e.jpg The last box I got was full of blood oranges and they were delicious. I only had to throw a few out, and probably could have saved those if I'd paid more attention. Also in that one was about a pound of green beans. |

I bought a $5 produce box yesterday containing a head of Kissel's sour cabbage, thinking "haven't had cabbage rolls in awhile" and this morning saw hot Italian sausages on for $1 (got 4) so I have a plan... it isn't our old family holupchi recipe, but my expectations are good.

Just annoying they keep adding fees and provide a worse service, at least in this part of the world. Guess it's better than people using Wal-Mart delivery on Wal-Mart website for $12.99 fee, then Wal Mart has IC deliver it, but those pick up only orders pay so poorly to the driver, nobody really takes them, good luck finding someone willing to drive 20-40km to delivery groceries for $8  |

Before this new $4 priority fee, the regular delivery fee was delivery within 2 hours normally or within a specified time frame, today they wanted $4 priority fee to get a specified time frame, otherwise it was just within 7 hours and no time frame.
There's a $3 fee for within the hour, free for a specified time slot and free for within two hours. I can't imagine ever needing something within an hour that couldn't wait for up to two hours and might very well arrive within the hour anyway. |
Re: Groceries
The furthest grocery store from me in Regina on Flashfood is 6km, two are 4km away, one is 1.3km and another is 1km. All the others are closer. If it isn't rush hour and you know what you're doing, you can almost drive anywhere in town in 15 minutes. It isn't unusual to sometimes check the fliers and hit 2 or 3 different stores for sale items.
Moncton is in on it, but they hardly have anything posted; a few produce boxes in Riverview but overall it's pretty bare. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...681c461814.jpg |
