Chocolatines are like croissants, but straight, with a bit of chocolate in them. Or Pain au Chocolat.

Pizza Buns - bread base, pizza sauce and cheese topping. Very nice with an egg on top.

And when I went this morning they actually had some.
I limited myself to two, what with there already being 9 in our freezers if my list is correct

I managed to score some of this too

Unfortunately they didn't have any of their nice(British style)Scones.

A damn good price. I wouldn't buy it unless I can make someone else make it for me. I tried roasting it once decades ago and the greasy smell from roasting made me sick. Now we enjoy lamb chops but that's something we only have 2 or 3 times a year because of the price.

Definitely a distinctive smell when cooking but I wouldn't say a bad one. But some oregano might help.

My wife never liked lamb. She said it tasted of cadaver.
(How would one know?)

My husband can't stand the smell of it especially the fat. A farmer friend grows lambs that aren't as stinkythe breed doesn't have a fleece but hair, can't recall the name, katadin? Anyway he still can't eat it but he can tolerate the smell which he describes as rancid. I guess that's how a cadaver would taste, though isn't all meat cadavers?

I certainly did! I managed to squeeze a couple into my fridge freezer! that is such a great price!! considering how the price of food has sky rocketed.

Re: Groceries

I've long suspected that Instacart shoppers sometimes change their names or maybe sign up using a different name.

Proof today. A new name came up as today's shopper but the accompanying photo was instantly recognisable. I toyed with the idea of using the earlier name used in the chatbox  but decided against it.
(also, the person delivering previously was not the one in the photo)

And the one who delivered today was neither the previous one nor the photo.

The Prices

Most of my grocery shopping for the last two years has been via instacart. So I've become used to things being more expensive because they sometimes charge a bit more than the store price.

I have done plenty of visits to the main supermarkets but increasingly I was having great discomfort from wearing a mask so I concentrated on the stuff on my list.

Today I saw all of two people in masks so I kept mine off. And spent more time going around, just like old days.

But the prices of some things I looked at with more time available.

Cooked whole chicken. $15. I paid $10 in store last year.
6 Donuts. $8 from $6. An increase of a third.
A small wedge of Pate. $4.99.
Mini frozen eclairs. $9 a tub last year. $12.99 now.
Bacon 7.49 for the fatty stuff, $8.49 for better. - I haven't seen a decent deal advertised for ages. Fortunately I had just stocked up with a Walmart offer. Smaller pack but price equivalent $5.

I used to regularly buy eggs at Shoppers. On offer almost every weekend for under $2. Rare to see them them for less than $3.49 now.

Still plenty of good deals - can still buy chickens for $7 most weeks.

Grocery shopping last night, and I have noticed they are having trouble selling meat these day's, I have never seen as many $2 and $4 off stickers as I have in the last month. But when ground beef is 5 something per pound, I don't blame people.

I did pick up some chicken $2 off, I only buy meat now when it's discounted.

Eating healthier these days, and gotten better at bringing down our cost, reduced portions mostly so we don't have to buy as much.

$135 today, prices have been noticeably higher on almost everything, salad mix that was 3.99 6 months ago, is now 5.99, cheese seems about the same, mostly meat and produce with the prices that rise every week,

Plain yogurt
2 bags carrots
Pack of spinach small
Bananas (these never seem to go up in price, most price stable food out there.)
1 can sardines (for the dog, helps her skin and coat from getting dry.)
Box of whole wheat pasta
chicken breast fillets
Cooked shrimp
English muffins 2 packs
Frozen mixed berries 2 packs
Frozen mixed veggies 3 packs
Frozen corn 1 pack
Grape Tomatoes 2 packs
Kale 1 bunch
Cream cheese
Salad dressing x 2
bread 2 loaves
Cooked turkey strips
Zucchini 2
Black beans 2 cans
Salad mix
Pink salmon 1 can
Brown rice 1 bag
Can of tomatoes 2
Cucumber 1
bell peppers 2
Shredded cheese

Doesn't look like meals but I can turn the above into edible dinners... (we eat eggs and oatmeal for lunch, and breakfast and cereal, but didn't need any this week.)

Eating this way is double the price of frozen crap, but does make one feel better.

I think you’ve wandered into the wrong forum…this is Canada…not Goa/India. ;) Try this…

^^^^ agree, I would say for the same shopping basket it's close to 50% increase from 2 years ago

no longer keeping track of the grocery bill.

simply price match, buy in bulk those items that we consume on a regular basis.

biggest peeve is the cost of natural gas that has increased 80%/m³ from the January bill to the August bill.

electricity, water/sewer still expensive yet not seen the increase compared to natural gas.

also seeing gasoline prices ying-yang.
