Great Realtor

Hello everyone just wanted to share our great experience with our relator.

Not only she helped us to find a great house suitable for us in less than 10

days, she helped us to settle a lot quicker by being a great friend and

introduced us with a fantastic group of people. She sometimes gave us a tour

of Vancouver too. Anyone interested to use a good realtor pm me and I will

pass her contact detail.

It's possible. The realtor who sold our last house gave us advice on stuff well after the deal was done and she'd got her dosh. She also sent us an Xmas present.

Not standard behaviour, I appreciate.

But she didn't do it for free- she was paid and paid well and was quite clearly doing it for repeat business and referrals.

I agree. Naked self interest is all it is.

Yep, cynicism wins out yet again....and even if it was above and beyond the normal service by Realtors, it deserves to be punished....;)

I would like to recommend the builders who fixed our nan's roof. She didn't even realise there was a problem until they showed her some tiles that had fallen off. They only came round to fix a gutter.

They even gave her a lift to the bank so she could get their money out

You know her then ? or are you just tarring all realtors with the same dirty brush?

They sound like saints. Alert Esther Ranz and get them a People Award.

Above and beyond? Maybe that's their USP. You post as if acting out self interest is bad - it is not, everyone does it. If the realtor provides a good service, such that people are willing to tell everyone how great their realtor is unprompted then all power to them. I just think that it is a little bit naive to think that their motives are otherwise.

So, for the sake of argument, lets say St Judy in Calgary had been a realtor... All her wonderful helpful work here would have been simply for ulterior motives? Even though thats just the sort of helpful positive person she is?

Is it impossible that the realtor Heidi stumbled on was not just a genuinely nice person who happened to be a realtor?

There's a first time for everything.

It's possible. It's also possible that I'll spontaneously teleport to the moon.

A ∩ B = ∅

On second thoughts maybe not ∅ maybe 1 or 2%

I see your point but we didn't move within her area. We moved to a different province. There was no chance we could put business her way.

For your information I am not a Realtor. I am a medical radiation technologist.

No one does anything for free. But a good service is what it counts.

Dear friend

You may think otherwise but the reason I talked about her service was purely great service. when we moved here she didn't just sold the house to us and left us alone. She introduced us to great bunch of people and was in contact with me. She gave me great tips about everything and anything she could help us with and this now gradually turned into a great friendship. Who would do that? yes she got her dosh why shouldn't she. I think she is a great human being and deserves every penny she got.

She provided a service and you think you got value. Nothing wrong with that - that's how every business transaction should be.

You do know that realtors get a lot of their business from referrals and word of mouth? Behaviours that increase the likelihood of you telling everyone how great they are are self selecting in that profession. I accept that she was good to you, but do you really think she has a "great friendship" with everybody she sells a house to?

Over time I developed a great friendship with my neighbour, who happened to be a realtor. I used her to sell my property, at a discounted commission rate due to our close relationship and social fraternization.

That's the way to work with a realtor. Heidi just got it bassackwards.

Re: Great Realtor

Enough already, why give her a hard time for wishing to share the info. Im glad she found a good realtor that she still considers trustworthy. If people wish to contact her for the name I hope that they enjoy the same good experience. I think we all realise realtors work for a commission on the sale, and that word of mouth is a major part of any reputation they may enjoy, so lets not labour the point.

Thanks for opening up the thread again:thumbsup:

I just wanted to add that the realtor who showed us around a few houses here whilst we were on recce, kept in contact with us until we moved out here, in between the recce and us moving out he quit being a realtor and got his mate (another realtor) to carry on sending us updates. When we first arrived the original realtor that wasn't a realtor anymore put us up in his own home with his family - there was no gain for him whatsoever so some realtors are just nice helpful people.
