Good compact camera?
We're off to a meet and greet at a Thunder gig next week and I'm wanting a good digi compact camera to catch the goings on at the back stage party.
What do the camera buffs think is a reasonable priced camera, would like to try and get one where I can buy a underwater housing for when we go diving. Cheers Sharon |
Re: Good compact camera?
Hi Sharon - there was a thread on cameras on here pretty recently (maybe summer?) - I think one of the Steves was the expert advisor (sorry can't remember which). If you do a search it should come up - someone was asking about compacts I seem to recall and there were some sites given where you could compare models. ;)

Re: Good compact camera?
If you are looking for a good value compact digital, the Canon SD1000 gives good results.
If you take lots of pics get a good size SD card, at least 2gb. |

We have been very happy with the Olympus FE-180 (6 megapixel). Straightforward to use and really good value as well. It also has movie mode.

Cheers
The SLR is a bit bulky for carrying around gigs and we can't take it diving. I shall have a look. Sharon |
Re: Good compact camera?
I recently got a Canon SD800. I have been really pleased with it. I have been able to get much better quality shots than with my previous camera and it is really small and compact. It reviews very well in all the magazines.
One other thing is that you can buy an underwater case to go with it which would be great with your diving thing. The only negative I have to say about it is that you get quite a bit of red-eye. This hadn't really been a problem though as the software that comes with it is really user friendly and edits it out really easily. |
Re: Good compact camera?
Last year I bought the fiji F30 -brill- now superceeded by F50- still good with better didgital zoom.
Both cameras have an underwater bundle available. Would recommend both-depending how much you want to pay. Takes superb scuba diving shots and video capture is excellent. Pam |
