Ezekiel. It comes frozen and has a very short expiry date.

It's only a couple of km south of the reservation.
Thanks for this. Husband born in Montreal but grew up in Kahnawake. We are staying Chateauguay and he just said, yes, we can stop in Mercier. Yah!

I hope the recommendation is worthwhile, then. I have no direct experience, so don't blame me if it all turns out to be sweet, pappy nonsense. The pictures on their website look nice, though...

Yep, good bread is hard to find. Generally waaaayyyy too sweet for our tastes. We now have a Panasonic bread maker - problem solved!

Cobs Bread is the best, get either the White Loaf or the Higher Fibre White Loaf - the higher fibre one makes excellent toast too. It's not sickly sweet like supermarket bread, and they will even cut it into regular slices for you in the store.

Their "find your local bakery" doesn't appear to work. I tried several locations and it does nothing.

Opera didn't work either. It offers suggestions as I type, I click to allow whichever I'm allowing and it shows them but there's no response to anything after. It's laughing at me.

Appears there are simply no locations near you. The 2 closest locations appear to be these 2. Your not missing much really, I don't find Cobs to be that great, overpriced but not great. I much prefer the in store baked from Save On and Safeway.

This farm bread is nice:

Eating it regularly has to set some kind of benchmark for conspicuous consumption.

I didn't think there would be but I tried Vancouver and Montreal among other places just in case it was a location thing. It was dead whatever I typed.

Like magnumpi and dbd I am both an Ace and a Sobeys bread buyer. In packages I do find Dempsters 12 grain loaves edible and the Superstore does have “European Style whole grain Bread” which isn’t bad.

Have a good visit with us

Perhaps I'm assimilated, or perhaps I'm fortunate in my choice of bakers but I don't find sourcing "decent" bread to be a problem here. Daily Bread comes from a local bakery who do a passable 90% wholewheat bread that isn't too sweet. $2.50 a loaf from the bakery or, $3 from the local Sobeys which is more convenient what doing the grocery shop. Sobeys and Dominion (Loblaws. ACE) in store bakery stuff is acceptable. Local grocery chain colemans does decent bread but for softest white bread as a treat Dough By's bakery is the place to go. If I head into the metropolis of St John's, Artisanal and Hipster bread (which I suppose is the same thing) can readily be found. The most hipster of bakeries does rather frown on selling bread to people who don't live in the immediate neighbourhood, but they will hold their nose and do it if you persist.

Have you tried their 'crusty' bread? They have a hell of a nerve calling it crusty.
