The people doing the repairs are all expert restorers, and the BBC gets them repaired at no cost to the owners, Items vary from 80 yr old teddy bears, chopper bikes, all sorts of clocks, toys etc. The expertise is wonderful and they owners get them back in working or full restored condition. Just recently there have been a harmonium, which was got back to working condition and a clockwork train set, broken when the owner overwound it, and then tried to repair it, but as he took it apart, it 'exploded' into many, many pieces. The restorer got it back working, and, as it was a christmas special the built a baseboard, for the track, complete with a tunnel and trees. Anyone would have loved to get it back like that.
Scouse and I love that program too Mike.

I've rather enjoyed The Mandalorian.

Occupied season 3 appears on Netflix tomorrow, so that'll be some good early new year watching. It seems there is also a third season of Bordertown, which I hope will appear soon on Netflix.

Just started to watch Bonfire of Charity. It's a true story set in 1897 where people were attending bazaar and fire broke out. 120 people died - all women and children. It focuses on lives of 3 women impacted by the fire. It stars the wonder Audrey Fleurot who started in Spiral.. Anyway..

I quite enjoyed 'The Aeronauts' on Amazon Prime. Lovely to see Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones together again (they were together in 'The Theory of Everything' - a monumental achievement). Got me all interested in how balloons of the day worked (they were not 'hot air' balloons like we see today, but rather, hydrogen-filled with no means of adjustment other than dumping sand / weight to go up, and releasing gas to go down).

Reading more about the history of this subject, turns out the real story involved the meteorologist James Glaisher, and his fellow scientist Henry Tracy Coxwell. 'Amelia Wren' is a composite, fictional character, loosely based on several women who were active in the field at the time.

I finally caught up with season two of Fleabag tonight. A rare binge watch for me.
Magnificent.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoy fourth wall breaking.

I watched Scott & Bailey when it was first presented in iPlayer, back in the day. Liked it then and just finished bingeing on it all on Netflix. This is UK TV at its best. Gritty, raw and so well scripted and engrossing stuff. Now I’m onto bingeing on Shetland. Great stuff too.

and not a single impossibly beautiful and immaculately groomed 'police officer', male or female, pointing a toy gun and yelling 'FREEZE MOTHERF**KER!' It's a delight.

Currently watching ‘Band of Gold’ (really loving the retro tv series of the 1970s-1990s right now lol)

it’s because there is nothing appealing on Netflix for me

I might have to check out Scott & Bailey. For some reason I thought it was a comedy type detective series for some reason. Shetland is excellent. I'd read the books prior to seeing the show, and it matched up fairly well. Casting is good too. Netflix here doesn't have the latest series yet though

I just watched Case which is Icelandic on Netflix. The story was great, if a bit bleak, but OMG the graphicness (is that a word?) of the violence, drug taking and sex...in that order, was uncomfortable - not much swearing, but then I don't speak their language. Worth a try. Well acted, depressingly believable.

I really liked Shetland too. I do hope we get the next series.
