Genuinely scary /stunning scenes to come too.

I have one of these hanging up in my kitchen

I'm over half-way through Season 2 now. It's really starting to drag, turning into silly slapstick; Ben Horne the hotel owner is holed up in his office playing with toy soldiers, Nadine thinks she's a high school kid, the Leo Johnson / Bobby Briggs / Shelly 'arc' is getting silly, and so on. I'm going to work my way through it in the hope it improves, but I'm not liking it as much as I did when I first started!

You're not alone in thinking that about season 2. Loads of people thought that. Personally I enjoyed the silliness. Like the Llama.

It does recover though and an edge returns. The conclusion is a must see (along with Fire Walk With Me) if you plan to try out The Return.

Has anyone mentioned Sex Education? Not one to watch with the kids, but very funny and pithy and the acting is great from a wonderful young cast but a fantastic Gillian Anderson. Try it, and don’t be put off after the first five minutes, I cannot wait for series two.

Watching Unit 42 another Belgian crime drama..this time a cyber crime drama. When watching it through dubbing some of the dialogue is a bit wooden and when they quote money amounts in $ it is offputting when you know they said euros in the original dialogue..

Any reason why you aren't watching it subtitled? Did you see the cop who got transferred from The Break?

My wife and I watch it together and she has a knitting project she is doing so subtitles don't work as well. Yes, I recognized that cop..he plays the same role in both shows. The final episode had a liberterian internet boffin who was in Zone Blanche as the mayor's father. It was all set up for another season.

If anyone is interested in the Salton Sea in California, this older documentary from the early 2000's is interesting.

I thought he was a bit different. In The Break he was a bit of the stereotypical country cop...lazy, jumps to conclusions whereas this time he had a bit more about him. Even perceptiveness.

To be fair, though, in The Break he did improve as a cop.

I'm downloading that for later; there was an article about it in National Geographic (I think) years ago that was good.

My mom lives in Palm Springs area and when the wind shifts and conditions are right at the Salton Sea the stench in Palm Springs is horrid at times.

I saw the documentary years ago, and did a lot of reading about the place - fascinating environmental phenomenon. I finally took a detour on one of my LA-Phoenix drives and drove around the lake. Amazing how people could ever choose to live there.

Here's a place I'm eager to learn more about - California City. It was touted as the next LA, and developers built a massive road system before abandoning it.

https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/...unbuilt-suburb

"Nat Mendelsohn had a dream. A city that was going to rival Los Angeles, in 320 square kilometers of Mojave desert paradise, centered around a beautiful—though not native to the desert and artificially watered, of course—park, complete with a 105,218 square meter artificial lake."

I'd love to see a documentary on that! I keep meaning to drive through this place someday but I can never quite bring myself to add to my already long drive between SF and PHX. Imagine how much money was spent and lost getting this to the point where it is today. If you look closely, you'll see occasional houses dotted along the undeveloped roads ... early investors thinking they were buying into the 'next big thing'. I doubt there's anything anywhere in Europe that could rival the scale of this venture.

A bit more info ... California City – BLDGBLOG

I have read about California City before, crazy really, never been though. Haven't been the Salton Sea in decades, we stopped by once when I was a kid going to/from Arizona and California but it was so long ago, I really have no memory of it beyond a couple photos.

I would never live in Salton Sea area, I get why do do as its cheap possibly the cheapest place to buy land in So. California and I guess for some that alone is enough of a reason to live there, and I am sure some of the older folks might have bought in the early days and couldn't sell and got stuck there, but not sure how many older folks who bought back in the boom days are still living.
