+1 for Lilyhammer, I've just cleared season 2.

Maybe not that "PC", but wine-spittingly funny in parts.

Des on ITV has been good. Tennant has been brilliant.

Yes, he is brilliantly creepy, the drawings you see are, in fact, Nilsen's own drawings

That was indeed an excellent production, and I thought that David Tennant did a great job of the Fraserburgh accent.

Funny how the 1980s can seem both so recent and yet seem a lifetime ago.

In terms of police investigations it probably is. I was reading on a twitter account I follow from a policeman who was on the team that investigated Neilsen, apparently before the investigation had got really started a woman had been exercing her dog in the field behind his house and hade found a load of bones, which she took to the police in a plastic bag. once the investigation got really going one of the officers remembered the lady with the bones. The officer who had received them said he thought they were animal bones and had thrown them away.

I just wrapped up Norsemen, and I thoroughly enjoyed it ... possibly the best comedy I've seen on TV in years. I ESPECIALLY enjoyed Jarl Varg ... his mannerisms, his way of talking, his expressions ... pure delight! He does 'crazy' really well - kinda like Ramsey Snow / Ramsey Bolton, and Joffrey Barratheon, in GOT (Game Of Thrones). I see that the actor has other roles; 'Mammon' for example. I'll have to see if I can find that show. He does have a bit-part in Lilyhammer, but he's quite unremarkable. It may just be that Jarl Varg was the perfect vehicle for some odd talent he possesses! John Oigarden is the guy - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0960276/

I'm having less success, though, with lilyhammer. I really enjoyed Season 1, but as season 2 progresses, I'm finding it less and less inventive (or perhaps just too silly). I'll persevere with it and hopefully it will pick up again. Maybe I'm just overdosing on too much Norwegian stuff (I was watching Lilyhammer and Norsemen in parallel).

By the way - I do notice that there's a lot of 'homage' paid to GOT in Norsemen, or at least it seems that way. The 'arrow' scene (videos posted upthread) is straight out of GOT; Jarl Varg loses his hands just like Jamie Lannister, then gets a 'hand-shaped prosthesis' just like Jamie. And we saw dragons in the final episode of Norsemen, under the control of a woman (like Daenerys / Khaleesi in GOT).

Not seen any of Game Of Thrones, I tend to avoid "hyped" stuff, at least first time around.

If you're having trouble with Lilyhammer season 2, best don't hold your breath for season 3... I'm now three episodes in, and really hoping it gets back somehow.

Good heavens. I had no idea that was the same guy from Mammon - another very good show. You might get that on C4/4OD and looks like on Daily Motion too.

You absolutely must stick with it. Things happen - not saying what - that will have you whooping with delight after your jaw drops.

I started watching Borgen on Netflix a Danish political drama that has been dubbed into english, albeit with one character who sounds like a Geordie which can be a bit surreal...sort of like Wallander with UK accents on Swedish characters.

Bonus...

Watching Rough Justice (Coppers originally) which is a Belgian cop show, Dutch language, English subs. I believe it's on C4/4OD though that's not where I watch it.
Individual stories for each episode - which is fine for the 85-90 minutes when Beck does it - but for 43 minutes there's not much to get your teeth into.
Fortunately there's a mystery going on in the background and no child for the detective to forget birthdays or the school play etc.

Takes place in Antwerp, so that's somewhere new to see, albeit not particularly scenic stuff so far but I am enjoying it, which is the main thing.
