Working my way through Beck (which was previously on BBC) and I got to the second season before I realised the co-star is the same actor played Gillian Anderson's bit of rough in the excellent Sex Education.

binged on season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. Great stuff
On to series 20 of Midsomer Murders, looks like there's one more left and we're completely up to date

Wife and I are hooked on Money Heist. It is SO good.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6468322/

We watch it on Netflix with Spanish audio and English subtitles, but you can change the audio to English if you can't stand subtitles.

The last series wasn’t as good...they need to step it up IMO.

Watching some good shows on CBC Gem lately.

The Tunnel was good and so was Wisting and now we just started Greyzone. Wisting is Norwegian and Greyzone is a Danish/Swedish production.

I've just discovered Norsemen - what a hoot! What's with the accents? Is that really how Norwegians speak English? It sounds like they are taking the piss!

And is that classic Norwegian humor? I'm a huge fan of Monty Python, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, etc and this is 'close' to that humor, but somehow different. It is definitely on the dark side, with some extremely gruesome bits - like when the arrows strike the old man in the eyes and they spend time pulling them out ... Does it stay pretty consistent throughout the series?

Wait until you get to scrotum whipping

Yes, it's a fab series. The latest season is a prequel which confused me a little because I didn't know that in advance.

If you haven't already seen it you should check out Lilyhammer which I believe is still on Netflix.

Norway has produced some excellent TV shows.

That explains a lot - Varg for example. Thanks.

I have been binge watching Animal Kingdom on Netflix. Ellen Barkin is excellent as the matriarch of the family.

Not taking the piss per-se, just over-accentuating the stereotypical 'sing-song' Norwegian accent.

My Norwegian Sis-In-Law spoke a little bit like that, but she'd definitely have failed the auditions for that series.

Her kids - with Brit dad's input - did it to a much lesser degree.

I have to say, I don't think I've ever spoken to, or even heard, a Norwegian! Yes, you hit it - there's a funny 'sing-song' aspect to it; reminded me of the 'Valley Girl' California accent, where every sentence ends with an 'up' tone ... "The dialect's most recognizable characteristic might be the rise in pitch that speakers use at the end of some sentences" https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...0e1_story.html

The 'Swedish chef' just popped into my mind ... ... so I googled him (of course ...) - and found this!
https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/...-wrong/324210/
"To Swedes, the chef sounds Norwegian."

I watched a few more episodes last night; I think the most 'interesting' accent is from "Orm" ... he not only has the sing song, but also stops / starts as if his tape player is jammed! Clip from what I saw last night -

"... my hands are very cold (pause) and these (pause) arrows are a bit slippery for (pause) my style (pause) of shooting "

(Edit To Add - that scene is straight out of Game Of Thrones!)

I did learn something watching your clip - that you win 3 points in soccer nowadays! When I last cared, it was 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Shows how much I follow soccer

Ha ha, yes, that's Orm the character to a tee; he's constantly winging it, always full of BS, just dreading/waiting to see if he gets called out, hence the pauses. Well scripted.
