Finished Season 2 of ‘Anne with an E’ took me a couple of episodes to get into it. Didn’t like the whole gold digging con and the characters but I kind of feel that that they may come back next season as it was left very open ended. It is being renewed for a third season!

its a real feel good show although sometimes the character of Anne is a bit too much, the way she talks and is enthusiastic about everything.

i love the scenery, houses, costumes and the wildlife. I love Geraldine James - she’s an amazing actress!

in other news, I’m slowly losing the will to live with Handmaids Tale season 3 - how much darker is this going to get. I’ve heard they want to make 10 seasons of this???

Yes I've seen Wentworth. I like Wentworth and Locke Up better than Orange is the New Black

I thought it was bloody amazing...the whole of the Russian revolution could probably been avoided had someone given Nicholas a good slap. Riveting though...I must have dozed off in history, I certainly couldn’t remember Russia going to war with Japan. The footage of these events has been gobsmacking. A great, and terrifying, watch. It makes history so accessible real.

I too am just starting Stranger Things.

I thought History at school was a waste of time and effort because it was so bloody boring. Chapters and chapters of old shit. I love all these new docu-films or whatever they are called. The War of the Roses, The Tudors and Henry the 8th, The Czars. The Italian Medici family and the life of Michelangelo. The Borgia family. If History today could be taught at school with the help of some of these programmes, the kids would find it all so much more exciting. It brings it more to life.

I agree with you that History at school was utterly boring and seemingly pointless. Some of these programs are a bit 'soapy' but still - yes, they bring life to the subject matter and make it more accessible. When dealing with teenagers ... whatever it takes to get them interested! Although ... do teenagers today watch any of these programs, I wonder?! They do have quite a bit of sex in them so maybe that helps! I did find the one about the Medici to be extremely shallow and poorly executed, by the way - the one where Dustin Hoffman had a role.

A few years back when my son was younger, I would watch The Tudors, which I had bought and he would pop in and say ‘oh you are watching your Maman history programme and disappear! My husband...who seldom stays still enough to watch anything...would pop in and say “what the bloody hell are you watching, some sort of soft porn”?

Yes I really do think that these programmes can bring history to life in a way that makes it more acceptable for a greater audience...it makes me understand it far better.

Okay, how come nobody has mentioned Upstart Crow?
I've been laughing all night at the first four from the first series.

It's ok-ish, but a bit of a one man show? I tired of it after a while.

I hated the laughter track. I actually thought I wouldn't get beyond the second one because of it but I laughed so much I stopped noticing.

I particularly enjoyed the references to the ex PM and the farmyard animals and other topical references.

The other characters are more involved in series two.
So topical - Trump, EU referendum, the railways, me too, Islamophobia, mobile phones...

I want to try Charite this week...I was up last night till the small hours with Black Spot (Zone Blanche) and I’m unsure if it’s terribly good or terribly bad...but I really can’t put it down...

I found it to be terribly good, and if you can't put it down, then I suspect that you do too.

Binged "Money Heist - Part 3" yesterday. Just as good as the previous parts. Some rumours suggest part 4 is already filming, which would be nice.
Also started White Gold series 2. Still as funny as the first series.
