I decided to give up on Al Hayba. It was getting too soapy.

Tonight I watched the first two of Belgian cop show Unit 42 on Netflix. Very good so far.
Nice to see a cop who doesn't have a wife at home who he keeps getting let down along with missing his son's game or daughter's recital

Yes beckiwoo, a really good series, the Miley Cyrus one was excellent and not at all what I was expecting...but all of them were most enjoyable...shook away my cobwebs.

Like partially discharged I am now into Black Spot, a bit bleak and scary and it may put me off forested areas for ever but I Have To Find Out what is happening!

We finished off Dark season 2 last night. Lots of twists and turns, but very good, can't wait for season 3. Wikipedia has a helpful map of whom is related to whom too, so that helps figure things out after the fact.

On to Stranger Things 3

I’ve just watched the second season ‘Charitè at War’ - I preferred this one to the firstalthough both were good.

This one was harder to watch as it is set during the war/Nazi occupation and therefore deals with the infamous T4 experiments.

I’ve had an extremely unproductive weekend as the other half has been on a boys weekend and the weather in Vancouver has been terrible - doesn’t feel like July!!

so I binged watched some more TV shows:

‘The Last Czars’ on Netflix - I’m a bit of a modern history geek and I especially like Russian history. Made me feel for the Romanovs at the end but then they were given plenty of opportunities to modernize.

Also 5 episodes in to Deutschland 86 (been meaning to watch this for awhile) and it’s still good stuff.

Season 2 of ‘Anne is an E’ is next on the list after all

Binge watched The Last Czars myself the other afternoon during a mad, summer storm.
I knew how they all ended up but I didn't know much at all about Rasputin. I was gripped from the first episode.

We're watching it now but the accent especially of Rasputin can be a bit odd. If only they had DNA ability in 1925 to determine if that really is Anastasia.

We have a trial of Amazon Prime Canada. Does anyone else have it. Other than 'The Grand Tour' which is a poor Top Gear substitute is there anything BE people watch on it. I can't find many UK centric shows on it. My wife is binge watching The Good Fight but that doesn't really grab me.

I'm looking for a dark brooding series or a crime drama or maybe something like a Breaking Bad or the Wire.

Yeah I was a bit taken back by that as well.

The swearing was a bit of a shock (not that I have issues with it).

Never realized that Rasputin was a magnet for these Russian high society women either.

Binged Stranger Things 3. As expected, very good. Make sure you watch the credits scene!
Money Heist Part 3 comes out on July 19th, so I think that will be up next on the watch list.

Not dark and brooding but Unit 42 (Netflix) is very good. An actor from La Treve/The Break is in it.
Each episode is a different case but there's something going on throughout.

Only thing I've watched with my Amazon Prime account so far (had it for a few years, but mainly for shipping) is 'Man In The High Castle'. Really enjoyed it; it's an 'alternate future' story, what would happen if the Nazis and Japanese won WW2. US is split into three parts; Japanese in the west (based in SF), Germans in east (NY), and a neutral zone in the 'middle' (Colorado). Has some surprisingly decent twists. Also has a 'sci-fi' element to it that may develop into something ... I'm waiting for the next season to come out. Some annoying characters but overall, worth a watch I felt.
