Ah yes, Twin Peaks. I fondly remember watching it when it first aired in the UK. Most of it didn't make sense then, pretty much the same now The latest series is great, but as to be expected, very surreal. It might - ever so slightly - answer some of the questions from the series and film before it, but it does throw up more questions! David Lynch at his finest!

Thank you for that pointer, enjoying it so far.

If you have access to BBC I highly recommend "The Looming Tower". It's about 9/11 - before and after and based on actions of CIA and FBI.

Glad you are enjoying it. The bar that features in it doesn't look like a place I've ever been to in France..it reminds me of a US or Canadian small town road house type place.

Thanks for the reminder, it's still on my to do list.

I've been in a couple of places a bit like that when hiking less frequented areas in Haute-Savoie (74)

I’m watching Charitè on Netflix - it’s German historical series set in a hospital in the 1880s about the evolving cures for TB, Diphtheria etc.

if you don’t mind having to follow along with the subtitles unless you are fluent (I wish I was as I liked German at school).

Aaarrghh! I've bookmarked this, can't put it on the list yet, no room.

I have no probs with sub-titles, I can sometimes wing it in German, aber nur kinder Fernsehen.

On the subject matter I met a guy at a friend's BBQ a year ago who put me on to a book entitled "The Vaccine Race", which I started reading just a few days before we packed everything up for the move. Can I find it now? ...

Thanks beckiwoo

Got through Chernobyl over the weekend, absolutely outstanding, and shocking at the same time.
Started on Dark season 2, and so far it's great, but mind bending

Its one of these series that takes me time to get through as my full attention has to be on it for the subtitles. Usually I would have something on in background whilst I do other things

there is also Charitè at war as the second series dealing with the Nazi euthanasia programme.

Just finished watching delightful French show "Family Business". 6 part series and there will be a second season. It's about a family who decide to go into the weed trade as it is going to be legalized.

There are a bunch of books too
Oh Boy! I watched the first two (original) episodes of Twin Peaks last night! What an amazing show! It was far less 'bizarre' than I was expecting - maybe that aspect develops over time. The first episode is a beautifully filmed crime drama with delightfully quirky, but subtle, characters. Agent Cooper is just 'odd' enough to be endearing ... his fascination with Douglas Fir trees, and his passion for Cherry Pie, and so on. The scenery is gorgeous also - reminds me so much of trips I used to make up the Northern California / Oregon coast. I just looked up the filming locations; seems like 'Snoqualmie', Washington is where they have the beautiful hotel and waterfall. I really need to visit that area!

I'm now looking forward to watching the rest of the series! Can't believe I didn't watch this before. It's on good-old Netflix (US) by the way. There's no way I'm going to risk those 'other' sites!

I also watched episode 3 (S2) of "Big Little Lies" last night and absolutely loved it; I think they are doing a fantastic job of developing the characters and storyline. A hidden gem.

Does anyone know when 'Better Call Saul' (Season 4) is going to be released on Netflix?

I'm so glad you like it.
It does become a little more bizarre as it goes but not in a way as to be inaccessible or impossible to follow. But there's also an element of "for its time" as quirky was about the most you could expect back then - Milligan and Monty Python aside.

Genuinely scary /stunning scenes to come too.

I have one of these hanging up in my kitchen

Finally watched the most recent season of Black Mirror. Really liked all 3 episodes tbh.

The gaming one was so much better although bizarre than that one last season with Kurt Russell’s son in it. Reminded me of PS1 game, Tekken

issue now now is I have that god damn Miley Cyrus/Ashley O stuck in my head
