Funky Christmas Tree

I want one. Anyone seen any in the stores? Last year I had an arrangement of birch poles, red dogwood etc. this year I'd like something maybe metal, a tree skeleton shape. No built in lights though.

Otherwise I might break a branch off the tree outside and spray that white but that idea is a little old hat. I may even have to resort to a real tree.

First I thought of sheet metal with the tree stencil cut out and back-lit, then that it would be easier and more versatile to make or buy a gobo of a tree and project it (on metal if you wish).

A gobo? What's a gobo? It doesn't sound very polite.

ID like a three dimensional tree that I can hang the ornaments on, really just a metal sculpture od a deciduous tree without leaves. There's no time to start welding and cutting.

There must be something by Blue Peter involving coat hangers.

Do you have sticky-back plastic?

That's probably why he hasn't started a goats thread.

He will soon!

It sounds a bit 'UnCanadian' to ban Christmas trees Zoe? Is this common in condos?

i think so and to be fair when you see the mess that the people who ignore it make trying to get their tree in the elevator and up 40 floors , you can see why

Our strata Volkssturm only allows artificial trees, which on the one hand makes our tree get cheaper every year.

in fairness our condo boards rules are really not that bad, there isn't a single one I can't see a legitimate cause for

Re: Funky Christmas Tree

I think there might be a law or something in BC about live trees and multi-family dwellings as even the places that are not part of a strata or condo board and pure rentals ban them as well.

I found a loophole anyhow, small potted pine tree I happen to decorate in December. Its small only 3 feet tall, it's a house plant.
