Free mattress (Calgary)

The other thread on where to buy a bed reminded me I ended up with a left-over mattress in my search for a new bed last year.

I can't be arsed to try and sell it and I figure I'll give you a lot a shot at it first before I put it on Craigslist.

Basically, queen-size Simmons mattress, "hi-loft" latex pillow top. Pretty much as new (I tried to sleep on it for a week, clean sheets). The latex is pretty hard, you will not like it unless you like hard beds. It's not rock hard but it's about as hard as a latex bed gets. (I think they're still in shops, so you could always lie on one first at the Simmons shop at Deerfoot Meadows, I guess.)

You will need a van obviously to move it, it's queen-size. No bedstead included, just the mattress.

Hi. Would you consider a swap for a fridge (empty)?

Anyone traveling from Calgary to BC in the near future? I'd have that off you Steve if there's a way to avoid a 1,200km round trip.

Have you tried "Inn from the Cold"? They are currently collecting for Slave Lake relief efforts but not sure if they would take a mattress.

It's just the PITA of moving it, like I said I'll give you a lot shot first, I'm sure I can get rid of it some other way (have you ever tried giving anything away on Craigslist, it's frightening). The problem with mattresses is that you always need a van to move them. If you want to get a delivery company to pick it up because you don't live here, fine by me, but bear in mind I haven't got a mattress bag for it so they would need one.

Yes Please Steve!

If you pm me your phone number, we'll be round to pick it up if it's still available!

I got number one son a new bed a couple of weeks ago, but we were waiting til another pay period to get a mattress! :p

rider: Oh I should probably check with him if a hard mattress will be OK .....

They got back a while ago, absolutely gibbering with delight. Thank you SOOOO much ... it's a far better mattress than they would have got if I'd have had to stump up for one ... in fact ... (she says, ...eyeing the mattress ... :sneaky:)

Anyway, you are in my books as a jolly good round all egg (as somebody once famously called me, and the phrase has become something of a catch-phrase in our household) ... If I could give you karma x10, I would!

Thankyou, thankyou!

Well, I wouldn't get too jealous until they've got the hang of sleeping on it. Being younger and more pliable than I am they might have more luck with it than I did.
