Almost 500 people died over the past 5 days, 3 times the typical 5 day period, the heat wave is thought to have contributed to many of the deaths.

Here it is for non-FB: The cool name they don't mention on that road is Hell's Gate; always liked passing through Hell's Gate.

Poor Lytton just can't catch a break. Hopefully damage is not too significant, I went through there once, seemed like a nice little town.

Another grey day. Seems to have been a terrible summer weather-wise. Maybe I missed the best if it by boycotting the garden during caterpillar-crap month? Or am I just noticing more because the kids have COVID-safe outdoor jobs this year? At least there should be less raking this year 👍

38C here with the humidex. Jolly difficult summer, rain every few days has meant that the barn still isn't completely stained despite starting asap, and it means that there's no hay (needs three straight dry days to harvest). There will be hungry horses and/or impoverished owners this winter.

someone round the corner has a small holding they seem to run as a photo taking location- lots of flowers/sunflowers. One of their two giant inflatable ducks ended up on another farm down the road, across a road and a rail track during a storm at the weekend Wish I’d seen it fly, instead of just the bemused aftermath.

Oh, that's a good idea. We have this "berm" which is like an L shaped burial mound built of earth dug up during construction. It would be possible to seed it with grass but that means removing all the rocks. The current thought is to seed it with bee attracting wildflowers and let it go wild. Perhaps people would like to pose before it for graduation pictures or Only Fans pages or similar.

Drive up, take their wedding pics, leave $50 in the can.

sometimes google is not my friend. There are some things I would rather not know. OF may not be the worst of the things I’d rather not know about, but ignorance was bliss

I'd not heard of it until mentioned on BE a few days ago either. Been going a few years too apparently.

Sorry if that weirded you out. I suggest avoiding Tik-Tok and especially avoiding the strange world of Amouranth and the bathtub Twitch streamers.

It's a rare example of a non-Canadian porn/sex work distribution channel; that's a UK company.

Similar situation to us. Where we live is a centre for limestone quarrying (there is one near us). We've been making lots of changes in the back yard. Big rocks come up every time you stick a shovel in the ground (dig down about a foot and you gets lots of free sand - there's lots of that too). Souvette has been using the rocks. Dry stone walls all over the place. One of her creations seems to be missing only the 50-calibre. I thought she'd retired!
